The other way to park

Since we sold my wife's car, I can utilize our two spaces in a different manner. :-)

I probaby wouldnt recommend doing it on a regular basis. Regardless if you own both spaces, its an invitation to get your car keyed. People can be pretty ignorant.

I agree. Although I'm sure you meant this as a joke.

There is a guy where I wrok who parks his Hummer in two spots. There are a lot of key marks of the sides. He had it coming.

Yeah, it might be best to just park on the inside line of one of your spaces, out of door ding range. ...Wouldn't want to draw any extra attention to your MINI. It already draws enough attention...just being a MINI! ...or better yet, buy a third spot and two "buffer" cars to park on each side of the MINI !

I am not sure that anyone deserves having their car keyed, even acknowledging that someone deserved an act of vandalism is pretty scary.....

If it's a condo complex or whatever and he owns the two spots and no one else is allowed to park there whats the issue.
I NEVER park in numbered spots at my friends complexes because I know the rules. Anyone that doesn't and get's pissed is an ***.

It has to do with someone percieving him as an ********* who thinks his car is so precious that he needs to take up two spaces. Low lifes arent going to stop to find out if he owns both spaces, they are simply going to see somebody taking up two spots, and act like jealous punks. I dont a gree with it by any means, but its how some people are.

I think it's a brilliant idea and I disagree with the car getting keyed. I've had problems with others parking on my space in my condo. In your situation you're going to have a free parking space, making it an inviting target for others to park and abuse your space. This way you're at least marking possession of the extra space until you need it.

I wouldn't do it in a public parking space, where it might be seen as arrogant, but in a private parking space I'd say you're perfectly justified.

I didn't say that he deserved it, just that he had it coming. If you park like a jerk, people are going to react to that. It's not a responsible or mature thing to do, but people usually aren't responsible or mature. People think that they're dishing out a little justice to the jack-*** who willingly takes two parking spots in an already small garage.
The Hummer comes with a built-in reputation, and a Hummer owner should be aware of that. Especially in LA. Parking like you own the garage doesn't help that. Some would say he deserved it, but either way, he should have seen in coming.

Just trade the two spots for one spot at the end.

That's a great idea! ....but I still think one sacraficial buffer car is advisable, just to be safe!

Both sides of the story are correct and I welcome the input... Fortunately (or unfortunately) paying $2,000.00 rent per month grants us two parking spaces. I was really just making a semi humorous gesture on a way to park my MINI. I do realize there are lenty of A holes on this planet that would gladly key my MINI so shortly after this shot, I parked in my usual spot... I just "hug" or straddle the centre line between 50 and 51. ;-) Afterall we DO pay for the spots. I HATE door dings and the incourteous (or unconscious) who do it.
Love you NAMers. :-)

You really need to quit partaking of the Koolaid. Some people do deserve what they get. If some jackass takes up 2 prime parking spots with his ***** substitute, then yes, he deserves everything he gets. I know it's not PC, but that has never been one of my priorities. In fact, I frequently go out of my way to be the exact opposite of PC.
ps: I'll wager that you don't think too highly of guns, either.

Easy there Vigilante Justice! Max is right. People are asses, but keying their car isn't going to fix that. It also isn't the responsible thing to do. Do you really want to stoop to that level? PC or no PC, I'd hope that you wouldn't. There are much better ways to issue some comeuppance. You can always have the car towed instead.

Keying somebody's vehicle out of jealousy (or stupidity) gets them nowhere except maybe in their own pea brain.
I pay for the two spots in the photo and don't park that way in any public spots... So much for the "humour" of my original post. ;-)

I frequently see people take up SIX parking spaces with one car around here. I would never vandalize another's property, but it strikes me as an a huge display of entitlement and disregard for others.

Personally, I like to park at the far edge of the lot, at the right-hand end of a row. Since most people are alone in their cars, the passenger-side door of the car next to me likely won't be opened (and that's only if someone else parks that far out anyway). Even at the mall, the walking time from the furthest end of the lot to the store is usually less than a minute, and it saves me from wasting more time than that hunting for a "good" spot close to the store.

Scott

It constantly amazes me how people drive around the mall parking lots trying to get the closest place near the building so they avoid having to walk to the stores... hello? What do you do in the mall?

Most Americans can use the exercise, frankly. I love walking back to my car, keys in hand, feeling the lazies follow me thinking they'll get that magical spot close by...

I hear ya. Going to the mall is bad enough. Why make it worse by stressing over parking?
