R50/53 Nacimiento-Ferguson Road
Nacimiento-Ferguson Road
Has anyone driven this road in California?
I just discovered it on Google Earth... OMG!
If ever there was a road begging for a Mini. A ways north from San Simeon off Hwy-1.

Actually yes. Several of our club members ventured on this road and it turned into a dirt road that got them lost for hours without pavement despite the map showing there to be a road.
Some shots from that adventure

Trying to find some other crazy shots---still looking.

I just looked at some websites about that road, including one by some Jaguar owners, and bikers, and nothing was mentioned about a dirt road. Did your members make a completely wrong turn off the road?

The run up to San Simeon was in 2004--two years ago. It's possible the roads were finished by now, though at the time, the maps didn't show the road incomplete either.
These 3 MINIs had pulled off onto the road, as the rest of us went on our merry way, expecting the other 3 to meet up with us on the other end, but they never showed. We later found out that the pavement just stopped and they continued on thinking that maybe it was just an unfinished portion, and they just got deeper and deeper into the woods.
I'll let them tell you the story.

The 2006 California Mille went over the road. Must be all paved now, if it wasn't to begin with.
I doubt the owner of a D-Type is going to run a dirt road!

Some of the Maverick Minis took this road during MTTS. its not in the greatest condition, but it is twisty. Siddartha (Jerry) was our 'guide' and we proceeded to cruise through the Hunter Liggett Military Base (after showing ID, registration, and Insurance at the gate).

Your post jarred a long lost memory of a road trip I took in my college days. On this particular trip I drove a small red Toyota Tercel, manual, 2-door hatchback -- so fun to drive, somewhat handled like a MINI.
I almost thought you were talking about a lone "blue" road that I accidentally discovered off the PCH (Hwy-1) south of Monterey. The season was Fall. I found this one windy road that I thought would be a "short cut" to Hwy 101. The "short cut" took hours, a windy paved road with changing elevations, deep wood type scenery with Fall colors, some parts were were void of any hint of civilization; at times the road would switch between a double lane to a single lane road. For the "hours" that I drove, I saw only a handful of cars the entire time. Eventually I did reach Hwy 101, but at some point, I thought I was going to get lost, and run out of gas in the middle of some mountain range in a strange scenic part of Central California. I don't even remember the road number or if it had a name. I just looked it up on the map and took it.
But since you mentioned your road became, NOT PAVED, this couldn't have been the same road I was on. I distinctly remember not driving on dirt roads.
Now that I have a MINI, I want to find that "lost" road..."that long windy road".

This road is all paved, but well south of Monterey.
^PAVED! nice...I'll have to check it out. thanks for the tip.
Well, after posting my memorable trip, I had to Google map the area....and
I found it.
The road is Carmel Valley Road; it breaks off the Hwy 1 in the area of Carmel by the Sea.
I would guess that it's already been travelled on by many NAM'ers.

The roads on the military reservation were outstanding. it was the road to get to the reservation from hwy 1 that were not in the greatest of shape.
