Do highly exterior modified MINI's get waved at?

So I noticed something the other day when driving. I saw several MINI's and many of them waved to me. I LOVE that feeling. But my question is do MINI's that are heavily modded on the exterior (i.e. wheels, lowered, body kits, graphics, etc. etc.) get waved at as much? I'm under the impression that people will see a modified MINI like that and maybe think it's a punk kid or something and not pay attention at all.

Maybe as long as it's tastefully modded there won't be any issues!

I believe that modded MINIs should get more waves than stock, because Modded MINI's mean that the owners care about their cars, and not just drive it... not that stock MINI owners dont care about their cars... does this make any sense?

I don't bother waving @ cars that have super dark tint since I know I won't see the wave back.

Thats a bad generalization. A lot of stock owners will care for there car to death on NAM i bet , but they just don't have the money or want to mod the stocked item. I'm sure they care just as much as anyone else does

Owners of stock MINIs aren't necessarily non-enthusiasts, but owners of modded MINIs almost certainly ARE enthusiasts. I see so few MINIs on the road that I always wave. Most of the non club member cars I see in Vegas are not modded. Many of them don't wave back.

This is a very strange thread because it implies way too much from simple ... youification. As others have said ... it might be money ... it might be youification means different things to different people ... sometimes less is more, etc.

Well ... it would have been pretty hard to miss me and I know coming up behind ppl, it looked a bit scary and a punk kid ... I wish well at least the kid part

Very bad assumption. Sometimes less is more.

Isn't that a BIT condesending to EVERY MINI owner here Is that what your doing ... just biding time until you can afford a Porsche?

As to the last sentence, true for performance mods, not true from bling. Vinyl just peels off.

My Blackout goes with my name...blackeyedsuzie, We see ya wave and as for me, I give a bright-eyed salute with the old highbeamers.

Don't be haytin!!!
My car came with the blackout and it suits the car.
I get TONS of waves. I have a very unique body kit on my car, I have not seen a single one like it anywhere. I bought like it is on ebay tho - wish I could take the credit for the mod...BUT I TOTALLY DIG IT.
I wrecked and brought it back with the Mod on it because it just looks so different. I don't think it looks punky at all.

If it's a MINI (or Mini), we wave.

If you mod it so much you can't tell it's a MINI, we may not wave. (j/k)

I have a Union Jack on the roof, white bonnet stripes, and chrome driving lights on a Chili Red MCS. I don't consider that to be modded very much, but I get lots of waves. Little kids really love it, and surprisingly enough...bikers like it too. Down here in the rural South nearly everybody waves anyway.

I get a mix of waves, I think most of it has to do with when you catch people, sometimes they just have a lot on their mind and aren't using the excess brain power for finding MINIs. MDS I almost always wave out the sunroof or drivers window, when I get my tint I expect you to wave trust me, you'll get one back.

If a car is a head turner, regardless MINI, Mini or not I'll drop a thumbsup out the window as I pass, that usually gets a mix of thank yous to I like your car too. (There is a town by me with more Ferrari Sightings than MINI sightings, so Ferraris don't always get a wave)

I get a fair amount of waves, I'm usually the one who intiates so I'm sure that has a bunch to do with it. As far as if my exterior is modded well I can stare at it for 5 min and still miss a bunch of my mods (and I've done all the mod work on my car!!) I have a heavily modded MINI but its all subtle things.

Trying to account for waves based on mods is dangerous territory, I think its the same thing that got that guy from 1940s germany in trouble with people. Stereotyping is generally not a good idea

or are you driving a car for the waves it gets???
For me - it's the British Thang
I am hooked ...of nine cars and four bikes.....seven cars are british, two bikes are british......

I've only been visably modded for about a day and I haven't seen another MINI yet, I'll let you know when I do though. I'll still be waving at every MINI/Mini I see, including the Red Bull MINIs.

I know what I said came out wrong, but I cant really get what I have in my head into words... my car is basically stock, but I really love my MINI, and sometimes I see this one stock MINI at school and it has bird crap all over it and it looks like it hasnt been washed in 3 yrs, I can tell I love my car more than he/she does, and theirs is stock, but sometimes I see modded MINIs and those are always clean and taken care of (I'm not saying that modded MINI owners care more about their cars than stock MINI owners).. ahh this probably still makes no sense, I'm just saying all MINI owners are different, and not all MINI owners appreciate their MINI's like the people on NAM

well actually that's what I was trying to say, Modded MINI owners are for sure enthusiasts, and Stock owners may be... but you cant tell
