I was wonder how do I remove the shift **** on my 2004 Cooper?

Put the car in 2nd gear and pull.

 

pull hard, make sure you don't hit yourself, in the face, or elsewhere

 

Open the sunroof too just in case. Brace yourself for when it does come off... when it breaks free, it can catch you off guard... pull hard though. There is a notch inside the top of the **** that keeps it from twisting, so just pull straight off.

 

If you get a black eye then you better make up a good story like he was this big.

 

OK, I can attest to this one. Dang, that hurt!
