salvaged Mini

I bought a 2002 Mini Cooper from a friend for 6k. It has black leather, premium pack, and its Black. I jsut registered it and got it all up to code. IT was hit from the front end lightly and was fully repaired. The KBB on it is $16k and it only has 37k miles. My question is should I just keep it or should I try to sell it? I dont know much about salvaged cars, would anyone buy it? I would only look to get around 8-10k for it.

How much $$$ did you put into it? If I picked up the car for that price I would have parted it out. You may get stuck with a car you can't sell or end up losing money on it if you do end up selling it.

good luck.

If it is repaired well I don't see why it is not worth 2/3 book value or about $10-11k. Unless you would rather keep it for yourself, but it looks like you already have your own. Try posting it in the classifieds.

thanks.. I bought it for 6k already fixed up. My friend owns a body shop. He had bought it from an insurence company for 4k and it only cost him 1k to fix it. I dont mind keeping it but i would like to buy an 2007 "S" when they come out so I will post this one in autotrader, then my 2004 Mini when im ready to get a 2007.

I'd sell it. Probably on eBay. There are quite a few repaired MINIs on eBay.

You'll probably get 12-15k since its an 02.

Low miles though!

Heck at that price I would keep it as my daily driver. Salvaged or not it sounds like it is fully functional. It also sounds like a prime candidate to do some heavy mods to since many are hesitant to do it to one they payed full price for.

Just be honest abuot the car's history and I bet you'll find a buyer in short order. It might be worth your time to have a certified MINI repair facility do a once-over for you - if you end up clearing $5k or more in profit then it would be well worth the expense to pay a dealership to give the car a thorough mechanical inspection, then post the results of that inspection in your ad.

That said, it WOULD make one hell of a nice daily driver or MOD platform, for you or somebody else.

Good luck!

Got any pics, might be interested in it if you decide to sell.

probably a good choice to sell it at 8k.....My cooper (with mods) had a hard time fetching 16k with 35K miles even here on NAM let alone at the dealer for trade in....and that was without any accidents.
