Can't figure out my climate control!

My climate control system is wacko!

I just got my 04 MC with the basic climate control and I can't figure out how to use the defrosters.

When I push the right side defroster, it turns on both defrosters and the fan comes on full blast. If I try to lower the fan speed, the defrosters shut off.

Any help?

If you havent got a manual, go to http://www.motoringfile.com and download one. I am sure it says what to do there.

With the ACC, you have to hold down the fan button until the light blinks and THEN you can adjust the fan speed. You can also just turn off the rear defroster. I would assume the manual might work in a similar fashion...?

hold down the defrost button and it will only turn on the front defrosters. the you can change the speed and what not. you can also choose to turn the rear one on and off. the full on effect is good when its raining out and you dont want it on all the time, just blast when it gets foggy. and if you hold down the AC button it changes the temperature reading from F to C

Hahaha ... this place is so great. I had this very question this morning coming out of the gym. Fogged the windows up straight away and hit the defrost - whoa, full blast! Turn down the fan and nothing. I told myself to look at the manual when I got a chance, but heck all I had to do was come to the NAM, problem solved! You gotta love this place !
Thanks!

Oh and for C I just subtract 32 from F and halve it (no buttons to push).

Then you are getting an estimated temperature but not the actual one. The real formula would be:
(F - 32) x 5/9 = C
(C x 1.8) + 32 = F

Granted, an estimate, but close enough. Since I'm an engineer I could just breakout my HP41CV and get it to the 9th decimal point, but who cares. Its close enough.

I HATE auto climate control, and this is a good example of why...one should not have to consult a car forum to learn how to turn down the fan when the defroster comes on (of course, I'm so glad that NAMers are so knowledgable though!).

I also hate liver, eggplant, and white zinfandel. However, I seldom find these items in my MINI, and don't interfere with temperature control one bit.

I think I may just be having a bad day...
