So I dropped my mini off today for some issues and because my service engine light keeps going on and off. The service advisor told me that this is normal and sometimes it goes on to check itself out. I could barely control myself from not laughing. He said they would check it out though.

but in all seriously, sometime check engine lights do come on without there being a problem that the engine dosn't rectify on their own. if it comes on repeatidly and gives the same error, then theres something to worry about.

 

My MCS did that recently; the service engine light would come on and stay on for anywhere from a few hours to two days. I called the dealer and they said that the computer might have seen a 'blockage' in the intake! I changed my air filter and haven't seen the light since.

 

That just happend to my 06 MCS, apparently it was a faulty valve connected to the supercharger, and because the previous owner of my MCS went to MINI of Manhattan as well I was informed that this is the third valve for this car, warranty covered it anyway so no prob

 

I just got a call from the dealership and they said they can't find any reason the SES light is coming on and it wasn't on for the 3 days they had it. Very odd.

 

Mine wasnt on the first two times i took it in and they couldnt find what was wrong with it, try and get it in the moment the light comes on cause when MINI of Manhattan had my MCS with the SES light on they finally found out what the problem was

 

What was the problem? Faulty SES light?

 

Actually it was the superchargers exhaust valve leaking so i was losing psi, and power but they fixed it, and apparently it was the third on my car, cause it was puchased new from MINI of Manhattan so they have all my records
