R50/53 What did you get when you bought your MINI?
Anybody know... do the MA's work on commission like salesmen for most of those other, less special automobiles ? Or are they salaried ?
If they're on commission, I would think they'd be much more likely to sweeten the pot to keep their customers happy.
My MA responded with free dealer-installed options, but only AFTER I reminded him I was buying over $50K worth of MCs from him.

And they didn't give you anything???? I'm surprised by that...
I bought from Motown and had to ask my MA like 6 times (seriously) for a stupid key chain....

We're a pretty easy going couple too...so it's not as if we went in there with lots of high maintenance attitude and gave them a hard time.
However, excluding the issue of freebies, I can say that the overall sales experience was above average.
commission people make money when they GET more cash /profit from you. they get a lot less by giving you freebies. At least on the % of sale.
no one sells cars without commission. I'm a salseman myself of appliances and electronics 1-2 days a week still. It's all commisioned. they give you bonuses for quantity of cars in a 1/4 or in a month, a base bonus for any certain type of car sold, and normally, a % of the % of profit. The dealer gets other incentives and usually more hidden profit % if they have good relations with people and sell well. Mini cant be that different, not with the caliber of MA's there. You know you are in a non commissioned store when the salespeople are ghetto, generally ignorant and dont know a blessed thing about the products. Also, they dont encourage the deal to be closed or money to be exchanged. they just look at the clocks and think about break schedules. aka, Best Buy

Also, what is the stock key chain? The thin strip of metal and mini logo, or do they just hand you the keys solo?
Reading all of these, I wish you said WHERE you bought your mini, it would be very interesting, and very helpfull.
Talking to my MA about Floor Mats, Rubber, he says 'oooo the problem is we don't make them..."
What, you don't make them in your showroom? No kidding! So I'm about to drop 32K on a new MCSC - and you cannot toss me a bone or two?
The more I think about it, the more likely I'm going to Nationalize my search for a new car; Hell, I'll fly 1000 miles and drive it home on general principles.

I got a little bag of goodies that included a model cooper and a carabiner key chain. My bonnet stripes too. I also noticed the big cupholder in my car when I picked it up and my MA said "they used to charge people for them, but now everyone gets it for free." I also got the carpet floor mats which was a pleasant surprise. I didn't ask for or expect anything, so these were very nice bonuses!

Love your kissy picture...
[QUOTE=yonahleyah;1166452]So, I know nothing about cars, but these build sheets have a natal, time-of-conception type feel. Exactly what are they, how likely is it that my dealer will have them, do they ever fight about giving them up? Would like to be able to speak about them as if I know what I'm talking about
I'm curious what you find out... I'd like to have my natal papers to my car too.
And as our cars are pretty much "twins", it would be nice to see your pictures when you get your MINI.
Where did you get the miniature model MINI that you are kissing in the photo you've posted? I want one!!!

I guess I got lucky. Upon picking up my Mini last weekend, I got carpet floormats, the cup holder, the bulldog keychain, a shirt, mints, and a bag of promotional/informational pamphlets including stickers. Yesterday I just got a mini bunt cake delivered to me with the message, "'Mini' Thanks", lol!
It's so small and cute that I don't want to eat it. Anyway, I purchased my Mini from South Bay Mini in Torrance, CA. Overall, I'm satisfied with the gifts and experience, but they did biff my OTD price, so maybe that's why they gave me so much including the bunt cake. Who knows?
