FYI, when I told John that I had thought about doing the graphic myself he said to go ahead and give it a try. I could always bring it over to him to fix after I screwed it up.

Nice!! Where would you want to meet? Hopefully I will get my stripes before Saturday and I will be at my boyfriend/mechanic's shop in Gaitherburg if you're familiar with Airpark? We will be putting in my pulley and my aero grill and hopefully the stripes!

Wow! That's so good to know! But if I screw it up is it possible to take it off and put it back on? I'm so nervous! (noob)

Ha ! You're going to make me drive to put on your stripes ?? I'm nice, but not THAT nice. You bring the MINI and the stripes to me and I'll put them on in my garage.

Just be warned, I have a busy schedule this month. PM me if you're still interested in the help.

I was just wondering if the area was convenient for you. I know we are all busy people! I won't bother you then, I will attempt it or call John and let you know how it goes. I appreciate the offer anyways!!

My home is convenient to me !

And don't get me wrong... I'd love to help you. Just give me a date when you'd want to come up to Carroll County and I'll see if I'm free. Right off the top of my head, the only free days I have in the next month are 4/19 and 4/26.

John will do it, for $$$. I'll do it for NADA.

For the bonnet stripes (Rally of Clasic) where do you take your measurements from? On the old mini's they followed the line of the bonnet which the new ones do not have.

Hey, Jim.

Sorry, Can't help you there.

First, I've never installed bonnet stripes on a Second Generation MINI. I have a pair of '06s and an '05.

And second, I buy the pre-cut stripes and it's pretty simple... if you don't have them in the right place, you'll know it. They'll be too long or too short and the angle of the end of the stripe won't match the edge of the bonnet.

Are you buying some vinyl and cutting it yourself ? I recommend you buy pre-cut stripes ready to install. More expensive ? Yes. Much, much easier ? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah.

That is good information even if not how to measure them.

Mine are on and I had the boot and bonnet stripes done OEM. When I ordered the bumper stripes they were long giving me plenty of extra for a screw up. Just drop a level down to the bumper and no problem.

I talked to Brandon from Speed Designs and he said stripe installation costs $225! I thought I remembered reading somewhere on here that it's for $60 or so?

Just now seeing this post. And... ... there must have been a miscommunication. That's more than I paid them to install my full roof graphic WITH a sunroof.

Call again but make sure you talk to John.

Have you joined any of the local MINI clubs yet ? Part of the fun of owning a MINI is hanging out with, and motoring with, other MINIacs.

I just left a message for John at Speed Designs...hopefully it WAS a miscommunication? If not, I may take you up on your offer

I can't believe I've had my stripes for over 3 weeks and they are just sitting on my desk...

Yeah, probably was. If not and you are still interested in getting my help installing them, let me know. My garage and my experience in installing stripes is open to you and anyone else from here on NAM.

You got it, Jeremy.... I can do boot stripes in about 20 minutes. I'll take a little longer on yours to make sure they are perfect.

That's some FAST vinyl work !! Especially considering how many separate pieces you had to install. And lining them all up and such.

Looks nice, too.
