Here's the scoop:

About half of the fashionable new Mini Cooper compact cars that have been sold in the United States will be recalled to fix a transmission problem, federal safety regulators said Tuesday.

Man, that is too bad...it sucks having to return a car because of a recall no matter how small it is :???:

BMW is finally stepping up to the plate by announcing this recall. I applaud them for finally taking responsibility for the shift cable flaw. Now maybe I can breathe a little easier as I wait for MINIclo to arrive!

Cheers!

I think I remember someone saying that there was a VIN list of MINIs that might be affected. Anyone know where this list can be seen?

Thanks!

As far as I know the following VIN #s, which a NY motoring advisor (MINIQUEEN), posted week before last still hold true:

TC30066-TC34812 (the last 7 digits of your VIN number)

TC= MINI Cooper (not MCS or CVT)

The needed replacement parts:

Shift Cable Clip: #25-117-525-816
Wire Harness Clip: #61-13-6-915-981
Wire Tie: #61-13-0-148-794

Since this will be an "official" recall, I would imagine that letters will be going out ASAP.

Cheers!

I have already had mine done. At my request ( i was in the recall VIN #'s). I have never received a letter from Mini or BMW. I even took the time to write them through the owners lounge concerning this matter. Do not wait for a notice in the mail. Just call your service rep and run the VIN #. Remember folks, not all the Mini's in the recall will be affected by this problem. My mini is 'sound as a pound'.
Motor On!!

I totally agree, mini-g! I think all of the motorers with the listed VIN numbers should contact their service managers ASAP and have the parts ordered and installed. Better proactive and safe, than sorry!

Cheers!
