I've been drooling over everything MINI since it's been announced that it was coming back to the US. Unfortunately won't be in the position to buy a new car until May-June of 2003. I haven't even visited a dealer as my closest one won't be finished their showroom/have cars in stock, until December 2002.

To those of you that have been put on a waiting list until 2003, what deposit has been required of you? Also, if anyone's bought their's at Don Rosen's BMW, what's the list like their?

Thanks in advance,
Bill (a future motorer)

I'm on a waiting list until at least April of 2003 at my dealership for a Cooper S. They don't require anything until you actually come down and order the car. They don't even want a print out of your specs yet as they might change.

So getting on the "waiting list" is different than ordering the car? How long after getting on the list, or how soon before your estimated date, do you "order" the car?

Hello Bill,
I recently put down $1000.00 - to be placed on the list for production in DEC and MARCH 03' delivery date. I will choose my upgrades in DEC for my MCS.
My dealership in Princeton has agreed to put me on the waiting list w/ my deposit of $500 this month and $500 next month. I guess he was being nice to put me on a payment plan.

So, now I'm patiently waiting for 8 months! YIKES~~

I put down a deposit of $1000 down at Mini of Peabody. They used to take just $500 but recently upped it to $1000. I was also told they will also take another 10% when the car goes into production. I also spec'd out my car, although I was told I could change anything on there for months and months since it won't go into production for months and months.

Although they only asked for $500, I put 1,000 down on my Cooper S at Perstige MINI (Mahwah NJ). Since the color (indi blue) won't be available until September or October, I have plenty of time to make changes. They don't place the order until the color becomes available.

Now all I have to do is wait

It's good to know that the Princeton dealership didn't try to rip me off by asking $1000 for a deposit.
