Rust Stain

I just recently picked up my new 2006 MCS and started noticing my Rear Wiper Blade is rusty near where the washer fluid comes out. It's causing this massive stain near the Mini Symbol and is very difficult to clean off! Does anyone experience this too? and if so, what do you use to clean the crud off?

I have to use car shampoo and a mitt to scrub for a bit. The car is even zaino-ed and Z6 won't even take it off easily. I can take most of it off eventually with the scrubing (don't like the fact I have to do this), but there's always some remnant.

It's a little irritating. I've set up an appointment to get the wiper replaced, but that doesn't do much for the stain.

Thanks!

Sounds like its from the washer fluid. I have the same problem on mine but with the PW I see it alot more than on other MINI's. Once you get it clean you have to keep an eye on it. I also avoid using the washer on the boot to prevent that unless its raining outside. Not sure what to tell you to use to clean it at this point but I am sure someone will be along soon with some advice

The windshield washer fluid from the factory is very thin and has a tendency to leak. Once you have used it all up...replace it with some good stuff from any auto center or even walmart.

How does the factory windshield washer fluid cause the rust stain? It sounds like some contaminated fluid (or metal particles in the reservoir or lines (or, a failing pump)). I would take the car in for a visit to the dealers service department. This is definitely not something you should have to live with.

My '06 MSCa is about 2 months old and has the same problem. Having read the problems with washer fluid from the factory, I sprayed out a bunch of mine and refilled with water. I'm in Texas and have very little fear of freezing! This was about a month ago. I noticed today that some of the stain has returned. I am going to bring it up with the dealer as I mentioned the easher fulid problem BEFORE taking delivery.

I don't think MINI as a whole really cares about this problem. I know it's VERY widespread on pepper whites, mine had the stain a week after I picked it up and I hadn't used the sprayer or wiper. I tried a bunch of stuff and couldn't get the stain to go away, the dealer polished it it helped some but it's not completely gone. I didn't realize it was happening on silver cars too. I know if I buy another MINI it won't be a light color because their paint is just too vulnerable to stains.

I had to get the vinyl replaced on my 06 SB/S MCS Checkmate because of a leaky washer on the hood. It stained the vinyl pretty bad. They replaced the whole washer jet assembly and it took them three tries to get the vinyl back on without bubbles.

My boot wiper leaked at first but it stopped on its own and now I have some better quality fluid in there.

Even if you hadn't mentioned the staining to your dealer before taking delivery, something in the washer circuit (reservoir/pump/lines/nozzle) is causing the staining. The staining is a symptom of a part (or parts) failing. Your dealer and/or MINI needs to find out what is causing the staining and fix it.

rear windshield wiper still leaking

I have 2006 CR /JCW ...

About 3 months ago I noticed the rear windshield wiper was leaking...

I took it to the dealer about 2 weeks ago. They replaced the whole rear wiper and the leak is now back.

Any ideas what to do?

Rick
