Ordered a new MCS last Saturday...

Hi. I ordered a Chili Red MCS on Saturday and am quite excited. I have a big SUV now and need something else to drive with better gas mileage (and fun too). I'm going to leave the SUV to cart around the 2 kids and 2 dogs.

My question. I was given a tracking number and told that we should expect the mini in 6-7 weeks. I've tracked the mini and it says that it is still in the order process. How long does it take to go into production? Once there, how long does it stay in production?

Any help would be nice. I'm trying to wait patiently but am not doing to well and its only been days.

Thanks

Get yourself over into the First Gear forum and find your fellow expectant MINI owners. They'll help you with the madness that comes when tracking your MINI.

Welcome to NAM!

I think the time from order to production depends a lot on the dealer. I ordered mine 7/21 and it was in production 7/24. It depends on how many slots there are and volume of cars produced - and when your dealer puts in your order. But if you have a production number, it means you're good to go! Shouldn't be long now

I placed my order with my dealership on 11/something/02, and it didn't go into production until 12/something/02. I took delivery 1/18/03.

BUT, it was an early MCS and at the point I placed my order I was wait-listed for a production slot. So, if you call your dealer they should be able to tell you if they have a wait-list for an available production slot, or if the order is just in the process of being... processed.
