This annoy anyone else?
That their shift know isn't tight? I have to say the BMW's way of attaching a shift **** is simply STUPID. The good old screw on type with a set screw were tight as a wedge all the time. My stocker was barely loose but my Whalen Pool **** one is even more loose. If I grab hold of the lever and shake my **** rattles....it annoys the crap out of me. I find myself wiggling it back and forth while I have my hand on it......
So, that annoy anyone else? Anybody know any way to fix it so it's tight as a wedge and no wiggle room? And yes, it's all the way down on the shaft...to some people they probably wouldn't really notice it, but to me who's used to the screw on type ***** that NEVER wiggle, it freaks me out and I don't like it

E-mail me, if you'd like; I would like to get to the bottom of this.

Take it off and give it a few wraps of electrical or hockey stick tape. . . Just around the shaft and only a few turns. I changed to a MOMO **** and had to file off the plastic lip under the **** on the shaft in order to get it fully seated, then wrapped it in tape till tight, then set the screws.

Wow!! Time from original post to time the manufacturer responded, 12 minutes. Impressive.
I think it's important members post their experience, positive or negative, with both dealers and aftermarket vendors. It may help to weed out the bad ones.

Just for arguements sake, i'm wondering why people want to change their shift *****. I've owned a few manual cars in the past and granted some of the stock ***** were terrible (leading me to purchase aftermarket Momo and OMP *****). On my MCSc, however, I absolutely LOVE the stock ****. Seems to have a decent weight to it and fits perfectly in my hand...
Try driving a MINI with a Whalen **** and you'll see why it's a very popular mod.
They are beautifully-made and the weight makes the shifting smoother. Or it seems that way to me, anyway.

I have a custom whalen on my Z3.. and its AWESOME... major difference plus the Z's come right off in your hands, an aftermarket is a must...
I'm not sure if I'm going to get one for the MINI, gotta try the stock first...

Thanks in advance.
I celebrate my Whalen Shift Machine every single day I drive my car, and most days that I don't.
Mine fits perfectly - no wiggle - but then, my stock **** fit perfectly, too. Perhaps there's something wrong with your stick, Liquid
Hope you get to the bottom of it: that would annoy me, as well!

Then why don't you simply send it back, for a full refund?
And afterwards, if I were you, I would find out what's wrong with your shift lever.
All of my ***** come with an unconditional 60-day 100% refund guarantee; no questions asked.
By the way; I never did receive an e-mail from you.

Does it wiggle fore and aft or side to side?

Liquid,
You state that your stock **** moves a 'hair'. My stock **** never budged. I too think maybe the toleraances on the stick stalk are off. Get your Whalen back to Doug so he can at least sort out that portion of things. If nothing is out of spec. there, I wish you luck with your dealer.

This one movies quite a bit though :( But the lever had never been touched til I removed the stock ****...
It wigges left/right.
