Is it just me...?

or does this areo kit rock out? I found it whilst searching for a new background. At first it was a little shocking but it started to grow on me. I’m a big fan of the new AUDI grill and this reminds me of it. Going to their website (they are from germany i think) i found a link to a reseller in Miami that had more pics and prices.
I'm curious though to how everyone else feels about it, mostly since i haven’t ever seen any minis wearing this.

I am not a fan of the new Audi front ends, and I have one word for this new kit.......CARP

LOL

But if you like it, then that's all that counts !

It's not for me, but I'm loving the MINI side aeroskirts and the painted arches!

yea... the only thing that really bothers me about it... is how the front bumper sticks out 3-4 inches from the bonnet.

I guess it rocks if you want to look like a VW/Audi, but I think it really messes up the elegant front end that is the very best part of our MINIs . .

As reformed VW GTI owner, I'd like my VW friends to continue to wish they had a MINI than have them thinking I wish I had a VW. . .

But who knows. . . maybe its one of those things that looks better in person. . . .

I dont like the front or the rear, but the sideskirts are ok.

I really like sharp clean lines in cars. Like the Saleen S7 or something like that. Thats why I like the origonal aero kit more!

WOW, i totally agree with you guys!
Thanks for helping me to see the light in my moment of weakness. My Mini must remain pure... not tainted by outside influences.

It reminds me of that old Smiths song: "Bigmouth Strikes Again"

Seriously WTF is the deal with the phoney grill slats on the bumper?

Doesnt anyone notice the resemblance in the new NYC Aero front grill?

As a designer I try to understand the process behind the product. In this case I believe, as others who have posted, that it was inspired by the current Audi's front--perhaps it IS a "carp".

A lot of NAMmers like the Audi's front because there was a thread about that when it was first unveiled. I have never liked it, but can imagine how it came about. The designer probably stated in a presentation to the VW-Audi Initial Subcommittee for the Review of Schnozzes, "The bold extension of the grill downward not only visually plants the car firmly on the road, thereby reinforcing its solidity, but distinguishes it an aggressive manner from front-engine rear wheel drive cars. Although adding cosmetic louvers may seem contrary to function by their greater size they announce to the public that there is more machinery in the front of this car than just the motor. So in an ironical gesture the distinctive expanse of grillwork actually serves the higher cause of function."

I'm not knocking those mods but I want my MINI to look less like some of the goofy, fart-canned rice burners I see tooting around the NYC area and more like the MINI I purchased so I'm keeping my MCS with the original body. I get the smiles, waves, thumbs up and nods of appreciation without all that other flash.
For those who do like it... Hey, whatever floats your boat! It's your MINI.
:-)

Those pontoons added to the bumper probably would float your MINI!

I think it looks cheap. The whole grill should be uniform. The plastic on the top part of the kit (below the top grill looks like cheap plastic.)

This is a pic of something I want to do. We will see, this or get a GP bumper.

I love to see posts like this... it reminds me of an old girlfriend I used to have who was majorly passive/agressive... If I can rephrase what Dave just said "I'm saying that this looks like POS, but I wouldn't do it to my car because I don't want it to look like a POS"

Dave: I agree with you...
