The Italian Job on NBC

Hey just found out that "The Italian Job" is on NBC tonight.
Does everyone think this is part of the new Marketing team at MINI USA?
Or could this be a sign that the Second Italian Job Movie wil be out soon?

Well come to think about it , the first time I saw this movie it was HBO but now it is on NBC.

Second Italian Job movie? The latest Italian Job movie was a remake of the 1969 version, but I can't imagine a "Part II" Italian Job would be in the works. If there is, I would say MINI/BMW is definitely funding it to sell more cars.

Although it's great it's on NBC tonight, I can't stand seeing a movie such as the Italian Job cut apart with commercials. Thus I own the DVD, including one of the ORIGINAL Italian Job starring Michael Caine with the Classic MINI!

Yep I had not even seen either one until i bought my 1st Mini in March...now on my 2nd (an S this time)

I ALSO BOUGHT BOTH VERSIONS! looks great of the 42"
plasma and pioneer elite upconverting DVD player (my 2nd hobby). I usually do not watch a movie more than once but not this one!!!

having worked with some Brits a while back...i enjoy the dry humor of the 1st one...BUT THE ACTION IN THE 2ND ONE IS GREAT...plus it is easier to relate to since mine is the newer Mini.

Wouldn't put it past BMW to try for another...they must have sold a ton of minis when it came out again!

I had a buddy that watched TIJ w/ his wife for the first time this week. He said they really liked it a lot and got a big kick out of the MINIs. So, what do I know about it...I'm a MINI owner...it's not like I can be objective about the film.

I remember critics in '03 observing that the sexiest star in the film was a car (actually three cars). A refreshingly insightful review, I think!!!

I also do have both the old and new Italian Job on DVD. I have notice that when a movie makes it to TV then it maybe for a reason. Like I remember seeing "Spider Man" on TV and at the same time "Spider Man two" was coming to DVD or something like that.

I did notice tonight that they cut out alot of the movie. That sucks but what can you do with only two hours.

I read on several movie boards & Motoring File that the 2nd Italian Job (aka the Brazilian Job) hasn't confirmed that Minis will even be in it. They could be switching to another car

I would highly doubt they will change the cars. im sure the 07 MINI's will be used. The reason no MINI has been announced is because no script has been finished yet.

You just figured that out???

There was only one MCS, the one driven by Therzon. 35 MCs were used for various stunts. Charlize did ALL of her stunts. The MINIs in the subway were all Electric because the city wouldn't allow gasoline engines in the subway

When you watch closely, look at the part where "mechanic" fixes the cars. The lead asks what are those parts on the table and he say he lightened the cars by 200 pounds.

Now look on the table ... There are four coilovers there They took coilovers OFF the MCs to lighten them

I know its a movie but also notice when they shoot out of the sewer, bonnet first ... crunch .... and keep on going.

Yeah sure.

Well watching that again is really making me want the aero kit for El Kabong. It really was odd to see the PW with a white roof, though. One day .
From the link that gokartride gave, it looks like The Brazilian Job isn't going to happen. But fun link for a movie junkie like myself! Thanks!

"Does everyone think this is part of the new Marketing team at MINI USA?"

No. It'd be much more value for the money and likely less expensive to just advertise the MINI. It'd be kind of an obtuse way of advertising to do it the way you suggest and since most people don't buy MINI's likely a near complete waste of money. While it might be fun to think they'd be that way given their website and neat little packages we get in the mail your suggestion is just too illogical even for them.

that they just put those shock parts on the table as props and didn't take them from the car because they didn't really have gold in them. As for Charlize she didn't do all her own stunts. She did not shoot out from the flood piping from the subway herself.

The thing I love about it is that they were mostly MC, and not all MCS

Yay for the underdog!
