Mushrooming / Brace question

Will the M7 strut brace clear the JCW air box? If not I'll have to settle for just the plates, as the mushrooming thing is freaking me out.

Has anything been changed for the '06s regarding the mushroom effect?

Some owners are expriencing clearance problems with the sound deadening material under the bonnet. When I heard that, I got the plates.

The strut towers in the '06 MINIs don't appear to be any different than the '02-'05 MINIs.

I think they're identical.

I have the STRPs in both my MINIs ['03 Silk Green MC and '06 Royal Grey MCS] and cannot begin to thank those who created them for the peace of mind they have given me, with regard to the "mushrooming" being all but eliminated.

The m7 brace clears the JCW airbox nicely. As such, it also fits over the stock box as well.

The hood liner is thicker on our 06 than our 04. The BMP strut brace I've got won't fit the 06 unless I remove the liner. I think the towers themselves are the same.

Thanks everyone.
Right after I posted I headed out on errands & topped off the washer fluid, thus checking the clearance of the box. The JCW box isn't any bigger than the stock box (heightwise), so all is go.

Its surprising that MINI doesn't recognize the mushrooming as a recallable (is that a word?) problem. Has anyone put together a suit? As deformed mounts is a little more serious than cracked windshields or crappy wipers.

Seeing as we love our cars, we're going to drive them as they were intended to be driven. Real-life roads aren't glass-smooth, so for MINI to say "Oh, you were driving on roads that had lots of ruts/potholes, so we aren't going to warrant the damage." is sort of crap.

BEEF IT UP, MINI!
