The things people say...

Just thought I would share this with you all. My mom borrowed (yes i let her) my mini to drive up to northern NJ. There are some fun roads that she has to go one to get there. So she goes to this resort, pulls up front and stops to unload her stuff. As she is getting out of the car she hears this lady say "oh, it must be one of those new SmartCars!" Mom tried not to laugh histerically and went on about her business. Are there really people who don't know what the MINI looks like? Even so, calling it a smart car? ha! hmm.....

Well, she could have called it a dumb car...ha! Seriously though, I've had my mini for only 3 weeks now and I've heard..."Where's the key to wind it up with" ...WAY too many times now. If I weren't the Lady that I am...I'd tell them exactly where the key could be wound!

I got asked, from a guy in Canada, where is the bumber sticker that says "When I grow up I want to be a Cadillac"
Jeesh the humor never ends.

You should have said, "On the back of that POS Pinto over there!"

My best? fiend (yep, I spelled it the way I wanted) had the gall to ask, "Is it a new volkswagon?" HOW do you get volkswagon when you're staring at the backside with COOPER on it?

One of our NAM members, kgdblu (Katie), has a big red wind-up key that suctions onto the hatch window! She had it on her MINI at the Dragon in May...so funny!

That's sooo funny. If you have a pic. you need to post it. Also, ask her where to buy one. I'd love to put one on my MINI at Halloween. It's got to get dressed up too ya know.

Those wind up thingies are a riot!
Just last week someone at work asked me, "How does someone so tall fit in that little thing?!"
Uhhh... the door.
I told her there are professional basketball players that drive MINIs.
All in all I get nothing but "great car" and "cute" and "nice car" comments.

Even my four-year-old granddaughter knows what a Mini Cooper is.

I have a parking ticket where the officer marked the model of my car as a "CHRY".

Makes me wonder if I even have to pay, since clearly it was a PT Cruiser that was parked illegally.

I'd like to see if there's a way to make a Mini look like a slot car!

Yes they do! And it wasn't like she was driving it "in the sticks" or anything! And it's great to see the smiles of the people making fun of these cars disappear when you cruise past them around turns heheee!

So true! Man, there are SO many times I wish I could just smoke some of the fools out there on the Palisades Interstate Parkway (NJ & NY) but with my luck I'd end up smoking past a police officer... it's just not worth it... but it sure is fun when you get away with it! :-) Age 42 going on 25...

Yeah! The cops have good hiding spots on that road and they use em a lot. It is rare where I get on that road and don't see at least 2 cops. That is why I like 9w.

Just after we adopted Gromit a friend gave us a wind up key for him. It is pretty cool because you can actaully wind it up and the key will then turn slowly for quite a while. Unfortunately, it has straps to hold it on(it is meant for a person to wear around their waist as part of a costume) and I haven't figured out a way to attach it to Gromit with the straps.

That's a reasonable question, why so sensitive?

Meh... probably because it could insinuate the whole "econo-box" mantality.

I don't so much mind people asking what kind of milage I get... I get more aggrivated at the people who exclaim, "Oh man... that thing has to get the greatest gas milage in the world. Does it even have ANY power?"
