I was whashing my MCS yesterday and noticed tht the S scoop on the hood was kind of loose. So I lifted the hood and noticed that the two little bolts that hold it in place are missing nuts. Since they are pointing straight down, i figured the nuts must have gotten loose from vibration and fell into the engine bay. Now, I don't really mind the two things missing, I can stop by the dealer and get that fixed, but it worries me that there are two small pieces of steel floating around my engine bay, who knows where they can end up. Will post pics later today.

Yeah, I just replaced my hood scoop (I got a second scoop and painted it black, pics soon).

I noticed the same thing. No nuts on two of the screws. I installed the new scoop with some extra nuts.

 

110 on the highway should shake them loose and hopefully out of your engine bay

I just put on a scoop grille and so I'm sure my bolts are nice and tight. But I will now make it a regular check to make sure they don't come loose.

my nuts weren't there either. i had tem replaced my mini. funny how they had the the nuts i needed.

 

My MINI is DS/W with white v-spokes and black bonnet stripes. I'll try to remember to get a picture of the painted airscoop tonight. :smile:

mine were 8MM

someone else seemed to have 10MM but mine were 8. (yes, some people have larger nuts than me)
