I was on my way to Fort Bragg for the 4th of July parade.
128 is a very windy road, full of redwoods. It was pitch dark,
and foggy. This crazy Mitsubishi wanted to race me. He tailed me
almost the entire hour drive through 128. I was going faster than
I wanted, and decided I would pull over the next turn out because
this guy was scaring me. The Mitsubishi got impatient and decided
he would illegally pass me in the left lane.

What he didnt realize is that he wasnt driving a MINI,
just a fast car. He obviously couldnt handle that turn in the dark
going 80 mph and flew off off a cliff, through a tree, and into a
ravine upside down. I stopped to see if he was alright. Somehow,
he and his girlfriend had survived with a few cuts. :impatient

The lesson: You CAN'T out-maneuver a MINI!

The idiot could have crashed into my car and sent me over the cliff as well.
I wasn't too happy.

But on a happier note, the parade in Mendocino was great!

Been on 128 many, many times in my MGB. It was set up for autocrossing, and could handle that road. The Mitsu driver? Galactically STUPID.

Want to have fun? Take the Oakville Grade between Napa and Sonoma Valley. THAT, is a fun bit of road!

I guess it's one of those times where you stifle a "YAY" since he was driving like such a tool. I mean, of course you're concerned about his health, but it's tough not to think that he had it comin'.

Sad story...pathetic really...maybe even sickening. Those two were darn lucky to survive. Good for you for stopping the thing, although too late for them. Sounds like they were just trouble waiting to happen.

Upon seeing they were okay, I would've been tempted to just laugh and drive away.

 

It was good to see that you had the smarts to pull over and let that guy go. He's now the one who has to explain to his insurance company how this all came about..."well I was TRYING to blow off this MINI and I had a bad case of BRAIN FADE".....

The pathetic part is...well ONE of the pathetic parts is that I expected it to be some young kid driving. But it was a 50 Year old!
