R50/53 I smell windshield washer fluid!
Anybody else?
When I spray the windshield with the washers, the smell is almost as bad as if I shot windex up my nose (well not really), but it sure is strong!
Whaddya think about that?

We don't smell it unless we use the squirters - sorry for not answering your original question

i smell it too, but only when using the washer jets. You shouldn't smell it at other times, unless you overfilled and spilled it elsewhere. When squirting, I think you smell it because the cabin air I believe gets sucked in from the bonnet vents.
Do you smell it all the time?

If your AC/Heater is pulling in outside air when you squirt you will smell it because the liguid runs down to the intakes for the system. If you are recirclelating (sp?) your air you shouldn't smell it.

THIS is the explanation I was hoping for. Perfect. Thanks.
Not that I hate the smell, I just didn't understand why I could smell it after I had sprayed. Never experienced that before.
Now I know.
Thanks All!

I Drove a JAGUAR S Type for a few months. The Jag's smell a lot more (good smell). I took it in service and the guys mentioned it is by design. Sort-a like an air freshner....He might have been puuting me on. But the Jags do it too.

Yeeeg! I will choose my own air freshener, thank you very much -- preferably, none!
We noticed the smell for the first time today, though I'm certain I've squirted at the windscreen before. Had to run the windows down (chemical smells really get to me).

Wish they had it on the older Jags. Maybe it would have prevented overheating in traffic!

My guess is because it is spraying your headlights, and then the smell of the fluid comes in through vent. Its like when you get behind an old diesel POS and it smells like crap. You don't have your windows open but you smell it anyways. Thats my guess.
WELL THE FACTORY WINDOW WASHER FLUID HAS RAIN-X IN IT WITCH IS CAUSE FOR THE ODER ON THE OTHER HAND THEY SELL AIR FRESHNER PACS FOR WINDSHILD WASHER FLUID ....YOU MIX IT IN AND EVERY TIME YOU WASH YOUR CAR YOU GET TO SMELL BERREYS OR MOUNTAIN FRESHNESS
AND YES THE SMELL COMES THRUE THE VENTS FROM THE FRONT!!
