Decided to Wait
I've decided to wait.
too much pressure with some of the items that may be not too proper and I might have to end up paying for repairs while making two car payments.

If it wasn't for the dent I'd be cruise'n a MC40.
I didn't want to rush him to get it fixed and I didn't want to have to haggle down more to have a dent that needed to get fixed. I'll end up getting something that I can pass on to my son in 4 years.

Cheers,

Bill

Hey guys, just got a boo boo on my hatch, destroying my GB badge. Went to the dealer to be told they were no longer available. At another dealer getting parts, I saw it hanging with the license plate frames and grabbed it! If you have to replace these, the last remaining original sets may be hanging on the shelves at your local dealers' parts counter.

If anyone knows of the magnetic #37's becoming available, I can use a set. Never got them with my car, nor did I have a numbered plaque or the proper front floor mats with the MC40 logo. If these become available, PM here!

Also who has the highest mileage MC40? Im at 107k

Chris

Hi all, I found an MC40 that I really would like to get. I think it is a good deal, however what should I look for when checking it out?

It has 85k miles on it and looks to be in great shape. Seller is asking $8900

What I did was have a Mini dealer inspect mine. The inspection was normally priced at about $130, but they did it for free since I was a new customer. They did find the strut mushrooming problem on one side and one of the engine fan's speeds was shorted out. Nice stuff to know. They are going to find stuff, and try to get you to spend a lot of money on other things, but I am still happy I did it.

New to this site but owned since 2004
#248 checking in from Madison, WI; only 22,850 miles

Am thinking about selling since wife has hip problem and can't get in the car easily anymore. Looks like prices vary wildly from 10 to 20k - - any thoughts on asking price?

thanks

I bought mine about 10 months ago, and like many other members that posted here, it was missing decals, numbers, and the signature plate. I recently took it to an AutoX and they put me in the 'Stock Modified' class. According to them, before 2005 JCW bits were added by the dealer and therefore they say that it isn't 'factory'. What killed me was the JCW airbox, not the carbon fiber dash. Does anyone have a complete list of what components were installed by the factory vs. the dealer? My local dealers (two of them!) have no idea, despite the fact that one of them actually sold the car new, and the Mini America phone line rings forever and nobody answers..

Anyone else been having issues with the R90s? The paint on mine is bubbling and cracking off. In addition there is corrosion inside each of the wheels. I'm worried that they are rusting in between the two pieces.

Never had a problem with anthracite part bubbling and cracking but the brushed alloy part corroded underneath and bubbled and cracked. Fortunately dealer replaced while I was still under warranty.

I haven't had a problem with the anthracite part, but the lip is corroded. I am having my repaired by Alloy Wheel Specialists this weekend. They are going to strip that part of the wheel and then paint it. I will let you know how it goes if you are interested.

I'll put before and after pics and final prices after it gets done. I believe it is going to run about $400 or so for all four.

MC40 #37 Decals
Does any one have the part number for the #37 magnetic decals from Mini? When I asked my local dealer, the only thing that they could find was one that had this information: The price is $103.77 and the only description is foil. 51-14-0-390-588
Picture attached.

Has anyone ever seen a MC40 with this type of decal?

I got mine made in vinyl...the magnetic ones love to fly off when driving down the road and it's a pain to take off every time. Check out http://www.aesthetic-creations.com/. They look great. He did mine at MITM.

MC40 #958 now in Pittsburgh, Pa
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that #958 now resides in Pittsburgh, Pa. I picked it up this weekend in Ohio and drove it back to Pittsburgh. It now stays in my garage next to my WC50. It's so cool to see them next to each other and always liked the looks of the MC40.

336 will be heading to Houston. I found one is San Antonio. I am working in PA at the moment, so I won't be able to put my hands on it until November. It appears to be completely unmolested. I don't believe it has the number plates. I don't plan on putting them on, but will be getting some just for authenticity. I think an extra set of decals will be in order also before the all disappear.

Help
I will be picking up 336 on Monday. I do have a couple of questions.....

1. Should it have the black covers on the spots?

2. What's the story with the gear ****? I see some cars with a standard 6 speed pattern, and others with a MC40 ****. Did they run out?? 336 has a standard ****.

Cheers in advance for the help

Wiayeman,
I have some answers to your questions. First, yes, the MC40s came with the black covers for the spots. Second, the gear **** is special for the MC40, it has the red "40 years" logo and is stainless brushed alloy. The gear ***** were stolen by people often, Mini of Pittsburgh had a few stolen when the MC40 was new. They actually had quite alot of the MC40s for display. I have had 2 MC40s and drove a promotional MC40 provided by Mini of Pittsburgh back when they were new, so I am familiar with them having driven 3 on a regular basis. I currently own one still. They are my favorite for some reason. Good luck getting yours, and you said you are working in PA, so if you need to see an original one, PM me as I am in Pittsburgh. Maybe you can check out mine to help you.
