Do black bonnet stripes look stupid with a white roof?

 

It's all up to you. It is not standard practice to put black stripes on a MINI with a white roof, but MINI owners aren't typically the kind to do what is considered standard.

Aftermarket stripes are very inexpensive, so it is worth it to try and see if you like it.

 

What color you planning on tryin' it with, we mught be able to scrounge up some photos; or the real clever one can photoshop it for you.

 

I'd like to see some black bonnet stripes and black shelby or viper stripes on liquid yellow with a white roof if you have any pics.

The car has a sunroof.
I've thought about covering the white area of the roof with carbon fiber vinyl. Has that been done?

Also, why isn't there a liquid yellow club?

That looks better than I thought it would with the white roof.
But the car in your picture has the aero kit with the black grills and black mirrors so that helps the looks a lot.
With my mcs' white mirrors and yellow grill I'm still thinking the black stripes might look stupid... i don't know.

I don't think you asked, but if you had... I don't like it either. I like the just Yellow/Black look.

 

Thumbs up. I think it looks good. There is more contrast to the yellow. And since you have the black with the wheel arches, etc. it fits. I think white bonnet stripes would not look as good.

 

I was actually contemplating the same thing when I initially decided to get a MINI, to be different. I have now decided to do the black roof/black stripes. I'll be getting a Chili Red MC. I don't think it looks bad though, but I just went off the white roof/mirrors when I saw them in person. If you get a sunroof (like the yellow one above) it actually looks even better.

 

I think it looks REAL good.

If you had a rather wide white pinstripe on the black stripes, that would also compliment the white roof and give you the black stripes you desire. . .

 

Actually, the black stripes blend fairly well with the black sunroof, it's the white "ring" on the roof (and mirrors) that might "clash" in some people's minds. To me, the white ring top gives the car a goofy "receeding hairline" look, with or without the stripes, so the stripes actually avert attention away from the problem area.

 

I dug this photo up for you of my MCS when it had black stripes (and a black hoodscoop too). I would recommend incorporating white edging to tie into the white roof. With my custom stripes I went with wider than stock white edging (something like 7/16" as I recall)



Ah, 2003, when I was in Denver. Lots of history there. That's Randy's Mule behind my MCS and mferguson's EB/W MCS (Mark is in the red hat) and then there is the MINI Motorsports banner from back before it became Webb Motorsports.

 

The wider white edging is a great idea.

 

I'll be able to show you what black mirrors on a LY/W with white bonnet stripes, white wheels, and checkered board roof looks like in a few days when I get my black mirror caps. If that helps...

After a lot of debating here is what I am thinking will look best but I am open to suggestions.

Ok they are not the greatest, I will get better ones tomorrow but here are the black mirrors on the MCS. I think I am going to like this look...

 

can someone photoshop me up a Black MCS with a Checker roof, but keep the black mirrors. everytime i find a pic of a black MCS with checker roof, it has the checker mirrors which I dont really like.
