90 miles Northeast of Columbus Ohio on SR62 to shop in Berlin with my pregnant wife for an amish made baby quilt.

Dry, almost totally empty 2 lane with plenty of twisty bits and a few long straights to dispatch those minivans. An EB/W MCS just 500 miles past break in stage to wring out....

80, 90 miles an hour at times (enough to make my palms sweat on this country road), and make my wife grab her seat (she says in fear, but I heard a squeal of glee, I know I did). 50-80 in a flash makes the minivans disappear in a hurry.

Nice day (66 degrees in Northeast Central Ohio), nice walk, and then the drive home...

...coming out of Killbuck around a bend at 70mph and a state trooper watching my exit like a hawk. Had me clocked 4 times at 70 in a 55 before I knew what was happening. A $76 ticket with my wife witnessing.... and the rest of the 90 mile ride home at barely 60mph. Ugh. Why when SHE was with me?

Oh well... the hour or better shaking out the wrinkles on the way up was a lot of fun. I am SO glad I bought this car. It's been a long time since I actually enjoyed driving.

For $76, the day was still worth it. Hope you all in the midwest got to enjoy a nice pre-spring day today... without the law enforcement interference, of course.

Oh we didn't tell the trooper she was pregnant.... besides, she was wanting me to go faster, I know she was!

Yeah, I just kept my mouth shut. I figured that was best. It's a good thing he didn't see me cruising past the Cherokee on the way up.... eeek!

Ahh, the joys of living in a speed-limit-free country..
Burning through the mountain twisties on your way to Acapulco with nary a glance at your speedo can really cheer up your whole week.

But of course, my sense of responsibility travels right alongside me right next to my shorts and sunblock..

Huh. As far as I know that is not usually excepted as an excuse in Oregon.

 

Doing 90 on a public road, is VERY dangerous. You should be very disgusted with yourself. Not only are you endangering yourself and your baby, but the lives of everyone on the road. Please try to keep it under 30, the way the MINI was meant to be driven.

How about we pretend I was doing 90kph and not 90mph? I get this 'driving like a madman with your unborn baby in peril's way' monkey off of my back, we all get the social satisfaction of knowing we have (albeit temporarily) FINALLY converted to metric, and we can all go on with our motorin day.

By the way, Sunday was another beauty in the midwest...70s here today and another short drive (all under 60 folks!)... Looking forward to more sunshine this week!

This makes little (if any) sense to me. I infer from this remark that it is OK to carry on like this once he/she is born. Or it's OK if it's Dad & Mom, and Mom's not pregnant. Or it's OK if Dad's by himself (leaving the entire family destitute if Dad's the sole breadwinner)?

The road is SR62 (Johnstown Road) out of Columbus and up toward Millersburg (where I got the ticket) and towards Canton. It's about 90 minutes from Columbus to Berlin, and a pretty good drive altogether.

20 years ago my brother and his wife "played" the pregnancy angle. When the cop pulled them over, she got out, said she was having trouble breathing, and the cop freaked out.

He did not get the ticket. Don't know if this scam still works, but it did that day!

Sorry about the points. Would a V1 radar detector make a difference in this case? I guess if you are obviously going over the limit, so I guess the answer is no.

Officer Killjoy said he got me 4 times with Laser, so any Laser detector and me paying attention and I would have been clear. But no...

 

YES...The weather was great in Ohio today... North coast here, Cleveland/Lakewood. My foot was a little heavy on the gas all day :smile: But who could resist a clean new MINI, great weather, windows down, sunroof open, tunes playing... only difference... by the luck of the radar the guy right next to me got tagged... and I was just ready to downshift and hit the gas to "show off" a little...It's just a matter of time and I'm sure I'll be buying "stock" in the police department... been there done that sure don't like it...

I was pregnant less than a year ago, and my husband would drive fast I would say 10 percent of the time I was in the car with him. On the rare occasion he would floor it with me in the car it was a rush. I did give the occasional Wheeeeeee!!!!! when the needle would climb. Yeah we did something risky, but what is life without some risks.

Based on the picture you painted for us I don't think you thought you were putting your wife and unborn child at risk.
