What do you think of this idea?

My passengers often have trouble climbing into the back seats through the front doors.

Perhaps, to ease entry and exit, the Mini's rear seats should face to the rear, so passengers can climb in through the hatch.

This is already done with the M-B E-Class Wagon, but how would you like it on the Mini?

(I'm sure Mini would never do this, but this is interesting)

One seat sideways would be doable. It would be a true 3 seater . . . . ah. Yep!

I would think climbing in through the boot would be no easier. Keep using the front doors.....tell them it builds character.

Our 58 Dodge wagon had that "panoramic" back seat. Made me ill. Just what the world needs, a car sick 10 year old . . .

I'd like it, but only if...

it's in a diesel that has the hood of a Rolls Royce!

Oh, no one said we didn't love it!!! I love imagination and, frankly, it's not something I even thought of. Like you say, I'm not sure MINI would ever do it.

Ehh, It might be eaiser, but just think off all the scuffs on the rear bumper! Cleaver idea, just not for the MINI. I might buy it, but I would have to see it first.

I have to say, and no offence, that that is the dumbest idea I have ever heard with regards to changes in a Mini and I'm sure it would be totally impractical in terms of ingress, egress and safety.

A lot of people probably thought the Mini was stupid in 1959.

The problem isn't safety, because Mercedes already has a similar configuration.

The problem isn't ingress, egress. Go look at your Mini. It's not perfect but it's better than climbing in through the front doors.

The problem is that the floor isn't shaped right.

Maybe it could be like an Odyssey's 3rd row, where it could be regular front-facing or flipped over to rear-facing with a latch and pull-cord. But I agree, it should be saved for the luxury Rolls version.

Do your passengers actually fold the seat forward?

Lots of ideas..

get a plasma cutter, some welding equipment and the like, and go for it!

But there is a reason that cars are packaged the way that are. What will you do with the wheel wells?

Also, when you ask for a response to an idea, and it's negative, that's just the way it goes. Sure, lots thought that the original Mini was a bad idea, and they were wrong.

Lots also think that square wheels are a bad idea, and they are right!

Just because you take the time to type it, doesn't mean that it's a good idea....

Personally, this one is better than the Mini/Rolls Royce collaberation...
But it wouldn't get a purchase from me. I like being able to see where I'm going, and the ingress/egress issue is one that is easily solved with a bigger car!

The Mini won't be perfect in all areas. This is one where I don't see any need for improvement.... Also the traveller is coming...

I'm 6'2" and 220+ its easy for me to get in and out of the back, if it is such a hassle, I say get in and out of a Lotus Elise and apply technique to the MINI. Let friend practice getting in and out in a driveway before being in a public parking lot, to spare any embarassment. Personally I'm all for deleting the rear seats, (something strong with carpet and makes the back one level). If you want to givit a try I say go for it and make sure you do it right (seat belts and leg protection beign among my first concerns. And the shape of the floor also dictates the shape of the seat that would need to be changed and so on. I think it would be far to much work for the proper results, but if you like it go for it.
