Hi there,

While driving around tonight I passed a Mini S that had a red light in the hood scoop. Kinda made it look like a photon torpedo launcher on the Enterprise.

I didn't catch what color the car was as it was dark. (DS, BL, IB, BRG, Etc...)

Anyone here?

-Jim

P.S. Red lights aren't legal in WI.

P.P.S. Please, oh please. No one put a "Knight Rider" style light up there.

ahead of the car....

That posting wasn't meant to be serious. Take a look at the date it was posted- I recall it was April 1

Heard it was a stealth laser jammer......

BTW....got nailed by a laser gun few weeks ago, damn those are bad, point and shoot, no detector on earth effective against them on point and shoot.....frustrating part I wasn't really speeding, damn speed trap, going 47 on a new 4 lane highway with a posted speed of 40 mph on that stretch...the bike patrolman even laughed when I said the city was going to make a killing on this stretch alone...he was pretty cool as he showed me how he operated the laser gun and why my escort 8500 never beeped till I was fried, laugh! I travel that stretch everyday so going to have to set the cruise at 40 or he will nail me again !

Hope the "red light" was not an electrical fire so common to my 1966 Mini and assorted Austin Americas, Triumphs, etc!

Your mistake was having a radar detector... The cop sees that and knows you speed all the time. I imagine you probably could have gotten out of a ticket if you didn't have one and were really nice to the cop since you were only doing 7mph over the limit. This doesn't mean you wouldn't have gotten one but if you have a radar detector in your car the odds of you getting one are a lot higher.

Actually he didn't really care about the radar detector since they are legal in Arizona, that they can't give warning tickets, he did like the fact they gave him a laser gun which gives him a huge advantage over the patrolmen carrying radar guns. Very few laser guns in Arizona compared to radar guns...he was pretty cool as he loved the mini, looked it over and asked me how I liked it...his first ticket for a mini which also kind of made his day, laugh! He was just doing his job, he didn't set the speed limit......but reminds me of the speed traps I used to go through in Georgia driving to Florida, those were really nasty, laugh!
