Pics of DS with black grill trim?

Thinking about this look and was wondering if anyone has done this. That is, painting the chrome trim on the stock (non-Aero) grill black. If you have, let me see that bad boy!

Welcome, gentlemen. Good to have you aboard. Unfortunately, it would appear this is not a popular or extensively photographed modification.

I actually thought it would be a good alternative to hacking my front bumper to fit the aero grill. But i also think that the aero grill doesnt quite look right on a DS

What do you guys think of the M7 grilles on a Dark Silver? I like the clean look, but I'm not sold yet!

Oh no... just put the areo grille on and call it a day. Good news, you don't hack up the bumper... only the piece you're going to put on. I was nervous about that as well, but after completing the install... it's fairly easy!

i've had both grill styles on my MINI (aero & painted stock silver) and by far M7's looks much better, cleaner even than stock 'painted' or tha aero!!
what are ur issues w/M7's design? have u seen them in person?

Not quite what you have in mind--I'm going the opposite way-- I have an '06 astro black grille waiting to go on to my '04 DS/DS MCS. Unfortunately, work is going to be crazy for the next several weeks so it may have to wait until June....

vin.

Actually no, I have not seen them in person! That could be the deciding factor for me. My main issue for me, based on what I have seen in pictures, is the lack of trim going around the grille. The Aero grille has that thick piece going around the grille. I like that because it looks finished. In pictures, the M7 grilles just look unfinished, and almost transparent (like you can see right through them).

I just want to see them in person! Not sure if anyone has them in Vegas! One guy has them in silver, but that's completely out for me!

i didnt like tha fact that it didnt have a trim piece goin' around it but i also didnt like how tha aero looks cheesy in plain plastic!
i've seen them painted and it still looks cheesy to me plus its another piece that u have to worry about chippin'..... M7's fits flush w/tha bonnet thats a plus w/me(follows body lines real well)
u can see thru it a bit but if u paint or wrap in vinyl(which is wat i did) tha back ground it will be fine

Wrap in vinyl? Not sure what you mean, but sounds interesting. Could you elaborate?

i used 3M vinyl(electrical tape)to wrap that area behind tha bonnet openin' where tha grill sits, it looks like 'kidney grills' like on BMW's..
i will try and post sum new pix. later, my gallery has a few old ones but not a close up of wat i did!!
