Am I the Only one who always gets cut off?

Well, I just recently bought my Mini S about a month ago. Now, About 3 or 4 times a week, somebody blatently cuts me off . I don't know if it's because of the size of our cars or if it's because the stigma of the Mini being a 'slow' car but It's driving me nuts! My girlfirend recently got sideswiped in her MC about 2 months ago and the guy claimed he didnt see her .

So, what I am asking is if anyone else experiences this at all. I've had 5 cars now and have never had this issue become a routine part of my driving experience. I love this car and it is by far... the funnest and most predictable car I have ever driven! But this is really starting to annoy me, but even more it has become dangerous to drive my mini. Maybe i need to install one of the marker flags the drakar rally trucks use

Yes, I get cut off a LOT!

Had a guy look at me, eye to eye contact, move over when I had no where to go and give me the finger when he did it.

Too many times !!!!!

And my MCS is "Give me a ticket yellow".

I used to get cut off a lot in my BMW. Back then, to the people cutting me off, I was a rich <expletive> in a BMW. Never mind that it was nearly ten years old when I sold it two months ago.

Now, I get cut off just as much in my MINI - but it's probably because, to the people cutting me off, I'm a wimp in a toy car, and around here, the biggest vehicle always wins.

Wonder if having the programable option to have the Daytime driving lights turned on would help?

Installing very loud and annoying airhorns make you feel better about it. I almost enjoy getting cut off now because I get to honk and make a scene of it.

Here in AL our roads are full of a**holes & inconsiderate drivers. They will cut anybody off regardless of what they are driving. They will cut you off if you are in a Sherman Tank or a Mini

Don't let them get in front. Learn how to tailgate. Keep them behind. I want to win...no one gets in front of me. If they are obnoxious I go fast then when they get behind me I get off the gas. Nice & slow. If they tailgate I touch the brake with my left foot, just enough so that the light goes on, then I gun it. You see them hit the brakes and I take off. Really pisses them off.

If they give me the finger I either Make a "v" with my fingers and then lick the "v" or I make a big yawn. Really gets them going.

Better yet Block them in by going neck and neck with a car doing the limit. Make them take the shoulder.

However if you use your blinker your in every time!

Can anyone say road rage? I've engaged in some of the baiting and taunting you mentioned. But not any more. Nope, I'm all grown up now. All except for the trick where you cause the other guy to be caught behind a really slow vehicle and allow traffic to line up behind you to ensure he stays there for a while... I did that just this past weekend.

Sounds like what I do every time I drive from NJ to Long Island. Normally it's some loser in an Altima or Maxima who thinks he can drive. I love jamming them and then have them stare at my pretty aerokit bumper as Lorelai disappears in front of them, and all in a stock MC with likely 1/2 thier horsepower.

The worst was this old guy in a Buick who pulls up behind me and switches on his headlights like he wants me out of the left lane when all I'm doing is the same speed as the guy behind me (admittedly only 65 on the LIE but if I don't need to change lanes I don't generally). That pissed me off enough that I pulled out at the first opportunity (a Mini only sized gap without cutting anyone else off) and got up to normal cruising speed (70) and then never saw the guy again. I guess he wanted to do 66 :impatient

Not that I condone this behaviour in any way though

I used to get cutoff all the time, I've made a few minor adjustments to my driving style and I have learned to read traffic better that I ever thought possible (not to say things don't happen that are unexpected, but it that becomes more and more rare). I can't remember the last time I got cut off.

I have been tailgated to no end, even had a guy get all over my bumper so I pull over let him get a half mile a head of me and hit resume on the CC, he saw me getting closer, pulls over and got all over my bumper again, and I didn't even change speed once.

I think joyu can anticipate when something like this is going to happen, I had a lot more people merge down on me in my last car, or even when I borrowed my parents Minivan. oh and I avoid DRLs like the plague cause multiple FHP officers have said they actively target vehicles with them.

I get a kick and a little outraged maybe over the birdbrains that speed up and slow down, speed up and slow down. Cruise control usually show these peeps off. Have yet to get cut off because I'm usually the fast one and they're following me. I just smile when they try to get past me on the right side... They never seem to except at their own risk and by endangering others.

I think a lot of them get close enough to see my window sticker and just go limp and give up on following me. Gallery.

It's crazy on the Palisades Parkway heading south towards NYC after a 12 hour shift... I have fun though. :-)

I'm not sure what people mean when they say they're being "cut off", cars get in front of me all the time and I get in front of other cars too, but as long as we all do it without incident and get to where we are going, no need to get all bent out of shape over some perceived slight.

I love how people will look RIGHT at you then pull out in front of you!

-or-

They will FLOOR thier accererator to try to keep up with you since they think Minis are slow.

To me being cut off is:
1) when someone squeezes their car in between me & the car in front of me when there isn't really enough room to do it safely causing me to have to hit my brakes (I don't tailgate at all but I don't really follow the 4 second rule either )
2) when someone races around me & pulls in front of me narrowly missing hitting my front bumper
3) when someone speeds up just to get in front of me & once they pull in front of me they slow down

So, where's the best place to get air horns for a MINI?

We were just talking in another thread about air horns & the one Minitor has is a Wolo brand. Go here to hear them (warning HOLD ON TO YOUR CHAIR )

Are you trying to be serious here or does this post belong in the Road Rage thread? https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ight=road+rage

What you are advocating is a quick way to get into serious trouble with someone who may not be so kind ... I would be a bit more careful

Better yet Block them in by going neck and neck with a car doing the limit.

That bit of road rage is a good way to get smacked off the road by someone in their beater pickemup. I hope your more careful than that
