How many uses for the OEM car jack?

What can you use the OEM supplied jack for since they are usually very helpful for those who have runflats.

Anyone know if they make good cup holders when placed next to a lawn chair?

useful for swapping out the OEM wheels

When your new wheel/tire combo arrives from Tirerack, you can use the jack to swap them out.

Someone mentioned in the things you did not know about your MINI that you could use em to apply grease on the sunroof rails

That tool you are referring it is the small hook-like tool that is used to remove the lugnut covers

I'm sensing a bit of facetiousness here... Does anyone have a recommendation for a good car jack?

The jack that came with my Mini scares me. They don't call it the Widow Maker for nothing. My cousin's VW Cabrio came with the same jack. The damn thing slipped off while I was fixing a flat. Luckily, it only put a small scratch on the rocker panel. Barely noticeable.

I can see how that would occur. But having used it to swap out my wheel several times, I like it. Mind you this was on a concrete floor and 99.9% level. I love the design and I really love the design of the chock. No wasted space in that styrofoam box they sink all that equipment into...
however I've been drinking, so don't quote me.

I've used it on a concrete floor with no problems as well, at least not the second time. The first time it was slightly off center and started to lean. I had to try to leverage against the car long enough to get the wheel back in place with my other hand. That was not the most fun in the world (but probably is my most embarassing MINI moment...)

(Ooops, I quoted you Wingnut... )

Even though quoted, I can understand... barely as I'm on my eleventh cocktail.

I think the best use for it is as a boat anchor. Tie a rope to it, extend it out all the way, and throw 'er overboard! Perfect for the fisherman in your life! Makes a great gift!

I bought the small aluminum floor jack from Harbor Freight and I like it. It was on sale for about $70. It is light weight and fits under the MINI easily. Several people on NAM have them.

Its part of that you get no spare but if you want to take your tires off for the heck of it here you go.

I'vce used a few, my favorite was whichever one Randy Webb had at Sebring, really really easy and fast, but might be kinda big if you lack garage space.

Could always wire up the OEM jack and use it as a desk lamp.

I wish I even had a small jack to keep in the MINI, now that the runflats are in tire heaven. I bought a small used floor jack for DIY MINI work. Saw a small cylinder jack at Sears for a few bucks, may go get that. But what good would that be with no spare?
