Ok I am graduating college in May. For the moment the plan is to work a lot over the summer to pay off all my CC debt and safe up for a decent sized down payment then order the car sometime in mid-late fall.

So whats the current wait looking like for a custom ordered?

I would also like to know if anyone can tell me by how much the wait has gone down over the last 6 months or so.

Ughh 8 months that sucks.

I think I remember hearing a while ago that the wait in the states was around 6 months. Just want to know if that is still the case.

In Denver the waiting list was 6-8 months, but last week the dealership went from 6 to 20 MCS's a month so the wait is down to 4 months. Also if you want one sooner look out of state, if you really dont mind travelling to get it when it arrives. I myself am going to go out of state so I can order mine in a couple of weeks when I am ready.

Another Mexico City Motorer: I waited six months for mine. I hear the wait in California is around 10-14 months, one of the longest in the states.

I am in Atlanta Georgia and put a deposit down for an MCS on December 11th, put my order in on January 14th, and expect to get the car sometime during the week of March 17th. When I went in to put my deposit down they said it would be 6 months, but it turned out to be only 90 days, which isn't too bad. A lot of people on the list in front of me, kept passing and waiting until the next month. Some were on the list for almost a year (which doesn't make sense). I ordered mine from Global Imports in Marietta, GA.

Congrats on the graduation and sound monetary plan. Delivery probably depends on which part of the country your dealer is located. Here in Dallas, I put down a deposit last week and will probably get a June/July delivery. Of course if I wanted to pay over invoice, they could get it to me in 1-2 months. Basically, you get on a list with a deposit and it depends on how many people are in front of you until your order is placed, once it is placed it takes about 1 month to build and 1 month to ship to your dealer. Motor on.

DWrath,

You must have ordered your MINI from John Roberts. You would have gone to Moritz in Arlington. I ordered my MCS on Jan. 25th and it's already on the boat and arrives in Port Charles SC by this Monday. That's 1 1/2 months. Moritz does not charge the extra $2000.00 that John Roberts does just to expedite your order or as they say "to jump you to the front of the line".

In case you aren't aware there are 2 Mini/MINI clubs locally. Visit http://www.miniownersoftexas.com and or http://www.metroplexmini.com

From talking to the MINI dealership in Portland, OR, they told me that they aren't even taking any more orders for MCS for about a year, as they have a fairly long waiting list right now. Maybe if they get a larger allocation of MCS's then that will change, but for know that's the story in Oregon.

Mini of Sterling is saying 8 months conservatively. That's where I ordered mine. Although Mini of Richmomd was saying I could order one for an April build with May delivery.

Dwrath: You better get that deposit back and go to one of the many other dealers nearby. There's Moritz and some dealers in Houston that have no wait. My MCS was on the boat 16 days after I placed the order and arrived at the dealer in 2 weeks later.

I ordered a MCS from Moritz a couple of weeks ago (should be here end of April). Do you know whether Moritz throws in a set of free floor mats (they did on an M3 I bought from them)?

I asked Moritz about floormats and was told "no fukin' way!". Then they kicked me in the *****. It really hurt.

It is possible in theory, however. I read an account of one chap whose delivery was delayed due to the delayed opening of the dealership. He got mats.

Moritz wouldn't even match Classic MINI's price of $68 (carpet) so I bought mine from Classic, along with the boot mat (*very* nice), the UJ, the sunshade (also very nice) and some oil filters. Classic discounts all their parts.

Anyway, I guess my point is: Get the boot mat ($40).

resOzvle,

I'll let you know if they'll throw in the floor mats as soon as I get my mini and it has floor mats in it. I did try talking my saleman into letting me have the Black car cover with the big white zipper that's in the showroom. We'll have to wait and see about that also.

Metroplex MINI club is getting together in Ft. Worth tomorrow afternoon. Visit same website for last minute details.

I only had to wait about 50 days, from order to pickup. Very fast. Classic MINI in Northeast Ohio was my dealer. I highly reccommend them. (Go Julie!)

Cool I am in Richmond too so I hope it is still that quick when I order mine.

I have been into the Richmond dealership a couple times just to look around and they seemed like good people. Let me look around without herassing me just asked once if I needed any help then left me alone unless I had a question.

Thanks for keeping me informed. I thought it might be possible that Moritz might throw something into the deal for good will purposes.

I hear the wait from NW MINI near Seattle is almost 2 years for an S. I bought mine from MINI of Hawaii. No wait, but I ended up paying about $400 extra in shipping for the pleasure. Actually, the shipping was $950 but NW MINI has a $600 markup and MINIof Hawaii does not.
