marks from child seat

Hi Everybody,

I put my son?s car rear in the rear of my cabrio and fastened it good and tight with the Latch system. I put a towel under and behind it but when I removed them there were very deep marks in the leatherette. My question is will those marks ever come out or are the rear seats ruined?

Erik

Ruined. But if you're going to be putting car rears in it, then it doesn't matter anyway. I'd use a truck or a beater for transporting large parts of cars.

The ones made by my daughters seat come out after a few days, but I have the leather. Anything that you can put under the seat will lessen the indentations that the well installed child safety seat will cause. Good luck - park in the sunshine and see what happens.

Rest assured that, if the child seats are properly installed, your son will be safe in the back of your MINI.

Depends on how long you had them in. Experienced the same problem with mine, thought the towels would work good enough. Found a seat saver at Baby's 'R Us that is make of a semi-hard plastic that worked wonderfully!!!

So, yes after a couple days of my child seat being out, the marks came out. After installing the seat saver, after a week, I took it out to check it, no marks.......A must -have mod for the new parent!!

Since it's vinyl, try leaving the car out in the sun (with the top down of course). The heat should iron out the marks.

Hmmm...I have leather, and unhooked my Daughter's seat from one side and moved it to the other...that was months ago and the marks are STILL on the original side! I've tried leather conditioner and a lot of hand pressure and still haven't been able to work them out.

Now, I guess I'll have matching marks at least on the other side!

I have transported my friends' daughter in the backseat of both of my cars with her "portable" front-facing child seat. A large folded up beach towel under it seems to have prevented any marks on either the cloth of my MINI or the leather of my A3. Get something thicker next time.
