Son of a !@$#@$$@^^!!!!!

Argh, this is not a good week in the land of all that is Dark silver!!!!

I backed into our trailer today and royaly effed up the back bumper on Sooper.

Its a lowboy, so i didnt even see it. I hit it at probably 15 mph!

It hit it so hard it smashed the aluminum support brace into the tire!!

Now i need a DS rear bumper......

I had a similar incident just a few months into owning my Cooper when I backed out of the garage and right into my wife's car! But, I used that as a good excuse to put the S bumpers and grill on, so it turned out good! Hopefully you can turn this into a postive somehow.

I feel your pain and hope that it comes out OK. Had a similar deal when I watched my wife back up and side swipe my new VW whilst taking the cat to the vet. I wanted to scream at somebody but just waved and went back inside. Too terrible to investigate right then. Turned out OK in the end, just like yours will. Hey - stick a little flag or something on that trailer when it's parked in the driveway, eh

The first scars are always the hardest to accept on our babies, but in the end may turn out to be the mark of character that you cherish most.

MINI - the Marque of Character

(So much for my feeble attempt to cheer you up. Like 'twas said before, turn that frown upside down.)

Maybe you can find a bumper with park distance control sensors (and whatever else is needed to activate that feature). PDC has saved my MCSC a number of times already.

With my '03, I had parked in a parking garage for a 14+ hour day of work, got into the car, and started it without taking it out of gear. I hit a concrete pole with as much speed as the car could get up to in about 3". It really was a barely noticeable crease in the bumper cover, but at first I was all gung ho about replacing it. Eventually I decided to ignore it. Yours sounds a bit worse, though!

Ok, well, its kinda back where its supposed to be, i have to take the bumper all the way off to get it to go back where it should be...

Lets just say before i fixed it, you could see alot more exhaust tip than your supposed to be able to.

Our body guy said to go buy a half pint of paint and he'll fix it for me. Its silver, so it will probably cheaper than even buying a take off bumper off of ebay!

I cant blend metallics, so i think i'll let him handle this one. we shall see how it all works out. i cant tell if i cracked the cover or not...

I still have to take the bumper off to see if any of the main mounts on the bumper cover itself are broken off. If they are, im probably just gonna look for another bumper. The bumper feels like its not attached anymore anwhere on the passenger side, so that leads me to believe i smashes off more mounting locations than i can see...

Sorry for the #@!!%%&* moment you had. From the last picture it doesn't look too bad. I bet it works out fine. You hit that trailer so hard you knocked all the red off your tail lights! Sorry Rick I couldn't help myself.

This is not a good week for me....

I just broke off the drain plug in my oil pan......

I should just leave the car the hell alone for the rest of the week.

Rick sometimes things happen in clusters. I agree with you, go find something to do to take your mind off things for a bit. It will help.

Peace.

Huge !

When under duress, people do things (change the oil, perhaps to relieve the stress of a recent ouchie) that they wouldn't usually do.

At least you didn't drain the transmission fluid by mistake (yes that's another story - doggone old Nissan pickup trucks, they put the tranny plug where the OIL drain is supposed to be (not) ). Oh well, the trans fluid probably needed to be changed anyhow... wouldn't have been so bad but it was my sister in law's truck .

Tatt

Haha, ok im happy.

I found a set of set screw extractors and i got the little piece of crap out of there, and, for some reason, i had a BRAND NEW sealed in bag MINI drain plug on my workbench. go freakin figure.

The tranny fluid isnt bad as long as you have a pump to get it back in (which i do) but its not fun on your back, i would only do tranny oil on a lift.

Ive changed oil on a MINI probably 10 times, but ive never broken a drain plug off before!

Lets just say i broke out the torque wrench when i reinstalled this one!!!
