R50/53 Home From Amviv-thanks To All!!
AMVIV was so much more fun this year than every before.
Some of it had to do with the more relaxed atmosphere than years past, but much of it had to do with the exectuion of the planning that Agro and SCMC did. Very well executed and planned in my opinion.

I'm glad that you could get Avery back on the road. What a trooper you are! Did you get the over heating problem fixed? In case you don't remember me, we parked next to you the night that you pulled in with the classic...
That was a Phil Wicks event....

With that said, the only "gripe" I have is the race might have been a bit better coordinated. We heard that the "Challenge" race was to begin at 2pm, and we would have been there in time for it if it actually had started at that time and we hadn't had to search for the route to get into the speedway area where it could be viewed. We actually got into position at about 2:15 or so. Some signs or a map (like the really great ones that the Sin City folks did for the drives!!) would have helped us get there in time. And then a little better coordination to publish and stick to a real schedule for the race start. (It wasn't hard to find the speedway, but rather, finding the way into the track after we got there was the hard part.)
Other than that (which we consider to have been a small glitch, since I still enjoyed watching the cars run through the course anyway, and my wife just read and napped) everything was as near perfect as possible.
Thanks to the whole crew who worked so hard, and to all the great folks whose company we enjoyed.

Oh wow! AMVIV was so much fun! Thanks to all who organized and made it such a superb event. It was great meeting fellow MINI enthusiasts from all over. You all have wonderful MINIs. I hope most of you made it home in good time and little road rash on your MINIs.

Not much to add that hasn't already been said....Whoo Hoo
What a GREAT event. Last year was #1 and didn't know a soul....this year I have more motoring "brothers 'n sisters" than I can count. Only run I attended was Valley of Fire.... not because the others weren't good...just SO much to do in so little time.
But on Thursday left some $$$ in Randy Webb's pocket for some new "go fast" goodies, Friday I did manage to squeeze in 14 laps in an Indy car (top speed 160.14mph)....wow what a rush. Saturday, all day at the track with Phil Wicks....excellent instruction...+ left a fair amount of rubber on the track......but HEY, thats what your supposed to do. Motored home on Monday with 3 MidCal folks....managed to find some twisties...and shed a few tears that the weekend was over........Next year can't get here fast enough!!!!!

I take full credit for the maps in the book.
Along with MS Streets & Trips of course. Todd did the cover, but the rest of the book was the product of a steep learning curve in Photoshop. I'm glad everyone seemed to like it. My 1st time making something like that.
I want to throw my 2 cents into this ring. It's one of the best vacations I take, and it's tiring as heck, I've just had such a great time. Thanks for creating this event, and I only hope you don't regret that you thought this was a good idea because the size and scope of this weekend will only get bigger. I think all the folks that volunteered to create all the printed material, coordinate all the locations, booked the hotel and escorted us on these runs are to be commended for a job VERY well done, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the work, I appreciated everything.

Line up entering Valley of Fire on Sunday. I had to leave early, didn't expect 1.5 hours to cross dam.

Artsy shot. Red light, my car is in front center.

Snapped out the window.

Taken from the car, stopped in the road, using full telephoto.
Sin City MINI Club did a fine job on the event. Thanks to all who put it together.
Again GREAT JOB SIN CITY
Here are some pics.
We decided to bring out the classic mini (which we only had for a few weeks so wasn't fully road teasted)
& it had some over heating problems on the way to vegas, 4 hour drive turned into about 8. Here its being
towed up Daylight Pass in Death Valley (about the same area that Avery had his tire experience)

Spent half the day Saturday fixing the problem (probably would have been faster,
but had to show it off quite a bit.
Randys Racer

Hoover Dam parking lot....

Someones headlight sticker, kinda cool

Heading to the Races on Sat. That semi seems really Big.....

Some Classics

Our two cars

And last the trip home, alot shorter than getting there, no everheating problems
.
Photo at top of Lida Pass Nevada ~ 7000'

It was a great trip, cant wait till next year

Home at last!
Hey all, I made it home finally. I'd like to give a VERY BIG thanks to Nik for hooking me up with those wheels. Also thanks to everyone who called and kept me company while I was stuck out there, and to Howard C for telling me about Nik and for the escort over to Lone Pine. I'd also like to thank Miniclo and anyone else for sending a PM over to Nik to get his attention! Thank you all for helping me get home, makes me extremely proud that I own a MINI. In fact i'd still be stuck over there if I had any other car in the world. Also thanks to Panamint Springs Resort and Budget Inn Motel in Lone Pine (for letting me us the internet to post on NAM!) for making one of the most inhospitable places... hospitable. Make sure you pay them a visit if anyones in that area
And thanks to anyone else I might have missed :P
I've got pictures from AMVIV posted on my flicker (www.flickr.com/photos/averytingwong) and i'll write up the whole story on my blog later tonight (its a long story haha).
