R50/53 No drinking wine while motoring?
I laughed when I saw that but I think that the REAL message is "no glassware in the holder" which would be pretty dangerous in an accident with airbags and people flying about....
Still, a cool way of getting the message across !!

I drove an 06 loaner the other day & noticed this symbol on the cupholder too (it's not there in my 05). I took it to mean no 'stemmed" glassware in the holder which (come on) is kinda common sense. I would be willing to bet this picture was added because some igmo put something stupid in their cupholder, got hurt, & then sued Mini over it

I know it's not pictured guys but you should probably avoid martinis while motoring also

Saying no wine, is just more polite than saying tea only!! I think its kinda funny, but then again I only use it to hold a radio (walkie taklie, not a stereo I could just picture all the flaming I'd get for intalling my head unit on that thing). Plus think abot the structure its just far too wide to hold a wine glass, you wouldn't want your passenger to be covered in wine would you?? and then get it on the seats?
I think the wine glass is kind of a universal symbol for fragile. Think about any fragile boxes they show the wine glass with a line through it. So I really don't think this is a "mini" thing just a universal symbol for fragile.
They make stemless wine glasses now. I got a set for Christmas, they are very cool.

So I guess it is OK to drink wine in my Mini

because I would like one on both pillars as the drink holders below are pretty inconvienent and won't hold anythig taller than a soda can (such as a bottle of water). The only problem is that you might need two T40 torx screws to replace in the pillar like the screws on the drivers side.We just replaced the toggle switches because my 06 MC didn't have the rear fog light, the only thing missing on our "on the lot" Cooper from Long Beach MINI, so that's how I know the drink holder comes off. BTW, Scottsdale MINI told me that they won't charge me to code the fog light or to code the "one button" open for the windows and sun roof. We would have ordered one from Scottsdale MINI but the situation was that we were in CA at the time, I had just wrecked our other car on the way to CA, and LB MINI had what I wanted. They were great to work with,
but we're having trouble getting the MC registered in AZ and the 3 month temporary is up 04/09.
Oh, and while on off the subject anyway, now the front fogs don't work. Does anybody know if that will be corrected once it is coded? Guess I should ask else where but this is only my first or second time to post. (That would make me the Nanette half of the McHughs).
I'm just as tickled with my 06, SB/S, CVT, with Preimum pkg, Sports pkg, rear fog (working soon I hope), arm rest, HK, blk leatherette, silver and blk interior as I can be! I mean "our" 06.... (well, not really ours, shhh, don't tell Fran). 3,800+ mi since 01/07.

But seriously, I am surprised more people don't use stemware as their auto beverage holder. It gives an air of elegance, just think grey poupon guy.

& it's a convertible (if that part even matters)
