Italian Job

maybe this is a bit off-topic, but I've been watching this movie pretty much nonstop as I wait for my new MINI

Anyway, has anybody noticed how Charlize Theron's character's (Stella) MINI is the only one with SC whine? Like lots of whine - it's great! But does that mean hers is faster than everybody else's in the movie?

Yup. The other two are Coopers. Charlizes' is the only "S" of the three.

Does anybody know where I can find a good mp3 recording of an MCS?

Thanks!

Theoretically all the MINIs in the movies were modified by Wrench so none of them were stock. Funny in a way they weren't all MCSs...you sure can pick out that whine...or absence of same...when they cut between cars! Charlize really seemed to enjoy her S...but then she seemed to get a kick out of that classic, too!

Could it be because she has the only MCS?

Go to miniusa.com, click on our cars, click on JCW, a new window pops up. Click on tuning kit, you will see two sound bites, inside car and outside car to the right. click on downloads and download the mp3s. They wlll be zipped files.

They are JCW cars so you will hear the flap open at 4500 but close enuff for government work.

Also, just google for mcs videos, there are many out there!

I don't know how many times I've seen that movie plus the original and they still get my heart pumping every time. I was at the town hall yesterday registering my new "06 and the town clerk even commented on how she likes watching the Italian Job.

Ashamed to admit it, but I haven't seen this movie yet. I have it on order to help pacify me while I wait on mine to be born. Really looking forward to it and the extra features on the dvd about the Mini!

Speaking of mods, when they shot the scene of the MINI trio weaving through the water drainage pipes those were three "dummy" MINIs with electric motors, the city of LA said "no" to internal combustion engines (and gas tanks) for that scene. Same with the motorcycles. Of course everyone who's an IJ freak prob knows this... Jimbo

Noticed how the sound of the mini's sound like a Subaru WRX with a exhaust, Sure sounds like a boxer 4 to me and not like any mini.
cheers
