R50/53 10 " snow
10 " snow
I put on a new set of wheels & Bridgestone Blizzaks at the very end of Nov.
5 days later we had 12" of snow in Indianapolis & I was conviced I was a genius. I have needed them all of 2 days during the mildest winter in 60+ yrs. Fri. I swapped wheels & the guy at the tire shop said " with your luck we'll probably get 10 " of snow next week " Guess what, tonight 10". So much for genius category!

I completely understand. We got a set of snow tires for the hubby's EVO in December. At the end of that week, we had a snowstorm. That night, we went out and played in the snow. The next day on snow covered roads a guy ran a stop light and f'd up the EVO. Just got it back in the middle of February. Hadn't needed the snow tires since. He was just gettin ready to swap tires on those rims. Fortunately, we were lazy enough to not switch em. Just got done putting them on the car for tomorrow. Figure we will have used them for a whole 2 days
Hey, Frank! Another Indy-dweller!
I've had my new über-wide Yokohama high-perf summer tires on for about 10 days. I'm hoping they're going to be better than the Goodyear all-season runflats (can't be too much worse, I figure). Fortunately I don't have much of a commute...

I just traded my G35 in with a set of Blizzaks on it. I figured I wouldn't need snow tires until next winter (I'm in Indy also).
F**$ing snow. Although, I just heard they are saying we will only get 2 inches now.

I live by Tahoe. We have about 6-7' around the house. Winter is why God created Subaru's. If I tried to drive my "S" around after our storms I would be plowing the road with the front air dam. How does the MINI do during the winter. I'm afraid to try mine in snow because of the depth.

but I work off Colerain and we do most of our shopping & stuff in Tri-County. We also have a maroon xB and a yellow EVO and I've only seen 1 other yellow one around town. What kind of MINI are you looking for? FYI, the last time I was at the MINI dealer they were drowning under all the MINI's on the lot and seemed like they were up for some bargaining to get rid of them. My drive into work this morning was just a bit nerve wracking. The first half, I didn't see a flake of snow. Then I got on the 275 loop and it was completely covered in snow. We were going along at about 45 which I felt was fairly appropriate, but every once in a while someone in an SUV or truck would go flying by at about 80 and most of them spun out some point. Once I got off the interstate, I have to go down this steep banked hill and we were all kinda taking turns until another idiot decided to pass all of us. From where he started to pass, he couldn't see what was on the other side of the hill and he almost had a head on collision with a car coming from the other direction. I was just happy that I didn't have to drive the MINI today. I know it handles well in snow, but with all the idiots out there, sometimes you can't help an accident and I'd rather wreck the xB than the MINI
The snow's begun and I can't make it to work. *pout* ;-)
I take back what I said about the Yokos being better than the Goodyears, 'cause they ain't. I don't know if we got any sleet or anything that iced things up in advance, but either way I didn't make it very far. I decided to turn around before I got stuck in an intersection.
The dogs are very happy to have me back! :-)

Snow... I forgot what snow was... let alone what snow looked like
In 20+ years that I've lived in Chicago, never once can I recall so little snow on the ground. It seems to fall, then melt the next day by noon. My wife tells me we had quite a bit of snow in December, but I was out of town most of the month.
Lucky I guess. Now watch, with my luck, next year will be painful

This is what I ran into yesterday morning at 6:00am (still winter at that time yet the first day of Spring, lol).... My Blizzaks were taken off some time ago.
