BMW Car Seat
I have a precocious 15 month old who has outgrown here Peg Perego infant car seat (worked great while she fit). Most of the seats I'd found for the next stage up are really big. BMW/Mini make car seats for the contoured buckets, but for really stupid reasons knows only to corporate pencil pushers, they don't import them to the US. So I had a fried buy one and bring it back to the US on his last trip over!

Fits good. Uses LATCH and a teather, and goes from just under 20 lb kiddies to just 55 lb kiddies. The rear seat back is adjustable, and as they get older, they go from the kiddie cushion shown to using the 3-point belt.
Not cheap!

Hey there,
If you get on MINI Mexico or MINI UK you can order the MINI car seat - they have 3 options. I was going to do this, but I ran across the Combi car seat - works great for my 3 yr old.
It comes with a cup holder & it has air vents that circulate the air under & behind the seat!!!

One thing to remember,
Every country has their own certification for car seats,
Car seats manufactured for the European market are not legal for sale in the US.
Here is a good example of an European car seat manufactured for the US market, with the proper US certification
This is a very popular seat as we sold over 400 within the past 2 years.

And let's face it, standards actions are going faster in Europe than here right now...
Due to subject matter that is off limits to NAM.I"m happy with the ISO certification.
I guess this just means I won't be able to sue BMW over car seat issues.
I did look at the Recaros as well.... IT was a second choise, but the BMW/MINI contour really follows the seat well, and there's not a lot of excess space in the car. It's too bad that my friend didn't hunt for the one with MINI in little letters all over the cloth.
And that racing baby looks fun, but it looks like someone made it for thier little tyke.... No standards at all! But sure looks fun. And with some work, you could probably bolt up a little Briggs and Stratton! Get em started REAL early!

But I have to do the front seat first! I've also seen full size racing seats in the back for the bigger kids.
