How long would you keep your Mini?

Say they stopped making Minis in five years so you couldn't buy a new one, but you could still get parts. How long do you think you would keep paying maintenance and repair bills to keep it running before you decided to get a different car. Say ten years from now your Mini's only worth a few grand, would you still pay to have say the engine rebuilt at a price that's more than the car's worth? Do you love your Mini that much? Just curious.

I've kept every new car I've owned for 10 years (CRX & Jetta)...so I'd definitely drive the Mini until he died and then might revive him again!

So far, I have kept all my cars well past 100k miles. Then I either donate them or sell them way cheap.

My 02 I will keep forever. I may get another in a couple years, but the one I'm driving now will never be sold.

I plan to keep mine until at least 140K miles, that's when the cavalier needed to be replaced. The MINI has a good chance of lasting longer though, so I may keep it until the next repair is upwards of $2000, or longer.

well im knocking on 140,000 miles now and she still pulles strong, no oil burning out the tail pipes and no real issues the onley repair bills i have had to deal with is the aftermath after hitting ice and screwing up my suspention a little but that was under 500 bucks

so all in all 200,000 seems to be possible
pluse those of you who change their oil every 8 thousand miles or less will prolly have it last longer since i change mine when the puter tells me, so thats about every 17,000 miles but i run ams oil or royal purple and their rated for the higer mile runs.

but yes i will keep this car and never sell, i have kept every car i have ever owned and never sell a one, kind of a pack rat (acually i just become emotinally connected to the car) so far i have my fully restored 86 fiero fast back gt and my partley restored 71 dodge charger and my mini.

I'll most likely hang on to my current '06 MCS. I could see it as a track tool at some time in it's future.

500k miles then if I haven't already I'll pick up a second car and make the MINI my weekend car. So given the situation in post #1, maybe a used MINI the rest of you are selling for cheap, of an M3 for the daily driver but I'm not selling this MINI.

My MINI isn't likely to reach 200,000 with me as the driver, as that would be 30 years from now at my current pace. But who knows? The first 19k+ have been a lot of fun!

I plan on keeping my MINI until circumstances don't allow me to anymore. The only way I would sell it is if it somehow was not my daily driver and I could get a classic instead :D

I love my MINI - it's my first - so I will keep it for as long as humanly possible.

That's hard to say. I love my MINI, but I don't have the knowledge to repair it myself or bundles of cash to maintain it if it had a bunch of miles on it. Guess I would need to find a hot mechanic guy to take care of it.
On a side note, why would they EVER stop making these. They are obviously the best cars out there!

If I bought a new car and it was a lemon, I would return it ASAP...on the flip side, if I bought a car and it was faithful and still drove well even if it was ten years or more old, then I would keep it. I would keep it to it's last gasp, have a respectable "funeral", and then grudeonly buy some other machine..... Mick

Ahh, its refreshing to still see ppl in love with their cars ... not having "eyes" on another yet. The thrill is still there ... the anticipation when you come out of a store of what awaits you ...

Its good not to have eyes for another .... yet.

We have a Black 05 Cabriolet S that we purchased brand new, we plan on keeping it in the family for ever.
Our other car is a 93 Mercedes Benz wagon with 284,000 miles......
So with a little maintenance, everything is possible

I have no intention of ever selling my MC, although if there comes a time when it seems to need continuous and expensive repairs, I will probably retire it from daily driver duty, and start putting less miles on it. I can't see that point in time coming for at least 10+ years though.

Plan on keeping it forever. It's almost never economically feasible to trade or sell a used car and buy a new one. $25,000 or more for a new one can pay for a whole lot of repairs.
