Is my spec'd Mini sitting at a dealer somewhere?!?!?!?

I'm wondering....when I get my Mini all spec'd out ready for order, how do I know if it is sitting on a lot somewhere and I could avoid the build? More than likely it's not, but I'd still like to know. Is there anyway to see if anyone has my Mini?

Sounds like you might want to get up on the MINIUSA web site - locate dealers, and start calling around. They'll tell you what they have.

Personally, I don't have the resources to help you out, but if nothing else, you should at least post your specs here so the fellow NAMists can keep it in mind or help you search.

I speced one out and talked to my MA. He found one not exactly but pretty darn close already in transit. I only waited about 3 weeks. Did not get the black roof or black mirrors I wanted but otherwise it was spot on. I was willing to do without those items to get it quicker.

I lucked out. Dealer had my combination on the lot. I waited 4 days.

Call your MA.

I waited 6 days for my first MINI. It wasn't exact but damn close and I was happy.

Your salesperson at the dealership can run a country wide search to see if your car is already at a dealership.
My MA did it for me before we ordered.

I just visited my dealer and was amazed at how many new MINIs were on the lot; Coopers, a bunch of 'S's, convertibles - even a couple of JCWs. According the my MA, most were "available". I'm guessing with the change-over coming (and the likely plant closure), they're really cranking 'em out.

I worked up 'must have,' 'want to have' and 'must NOT have' lists and, since my "local" dealer was four hours away, called all the dealers between Tampa, Atlanta, Nashville and Baton Rouge, i.e. the southeast. I found three possibilities with one standout in a slight different color combo that I ended up preferring. (wanted CR/W, got CR/S) Ended up spending about $800 over the combination of must and want lists, but I'm glad it came with the anthracite headliner because it is sweet. Had the car in my garage within the week and considered myself very lucky.

My husband and my best friend conspired to get my car for my birthday present. From what I understand, they called every dealership until they found the specs I wanted. My husband had the car trucked from Houston to Phoenix. (I have a great husband!!)

We bought mine off the lot..but the sales guy called around and checked boats that were in the SC port for all the options we wanted...He found a lot that were close, but the car in his showroom was closer....He was great and didn't hesitate to call us daily with the ones that were arriving and "unclaimed"....
