Does anyone have a cupholder that works?

Mine came with the cupholder on the passenger side tube next to the radio. It doesn't hold drinks too well. What are you using and where'd you buy it? Thanks.

Personally, as soon as I get my MINI, I want that taken off! That cupholder is ridiculous. It's a symbol of American junk food! lol, I've lived in America all my life, but from my parents I'm half Italian, and almost half German. I've got a little British in me too... I feel very European at heart, and dispise that extra extra large cup holder for the "big gulps". Plus, when I was a passenger in a friends MINI, that cupholder really got in the way of my legs. Made things more crowded.

I plan on using the cupholder at the base of the armrest, or maybe the front ones if they are big enough for a can. Although, I may not drink much in the MINI at all...at least while it's new...don't want to spill anything.

I took mine off and sold it for $25. It helped pay for my pully.

They actually sell?! Woohoo! I'm selling mine when the MINI comes in then! Bye bye cupholder, hello twenty-five dollars!

How much are those pullys anyway?

I use mine. It holds most drinks. the small cupholders are pretty useless.

What are you talking about? I've the same cupholder. It holds every cut/can/mug I've ever put in it. What do you want it to do drink the stuff for you?. Strange.

Now if you'd said it gets in the way I would have agreed, but saying it doesn't hold a cup very well is just plain silly.

My 03' MINI came with a MiniFini cup holder. It's kind of like the one that's now being installed, but better in my opinion. I use it all the time. Holds a big drink..or cell phone, change or whatever. Some people say it gets in the way, but that never happens to me. I like it.

I've got a unigue/strange set-up in my MCS. I purchased a little nylon storage bag from a Citgo station for $8.00. I thought it might fit in the dead space under the center pod but when I got it into the car a realize it did'nt come even close to fitting the space (to small).

But I liked this little bag, so I figued I've got to find some use for it. I than thought to buy a second bag, attach them together with the straps they came with and drap them over the gear-shift/hump.

I call them my saddle bags. Each bag has 3 compartments and the bigger pouch holds a large cup. I now have lots of little storage places for lots of little things.

What's ironic, is a few months latter, I found basically the samething (for a MINI) on a web sight for 2x the cost.

The factory cup-holder is sub-optimal. Yes, it will hold most beverages and coffee mugs, etc. Yes, it is in the way of the CD player or the glove box. It is a good place to hang your sunglasses or stash your cell phone.

We use the little cup holders under the toggle switches for the little 8-oz water bottles, and they fit perfectly.

The three built in cupholders are stupid?!??

The center console cupholder is plenty big for just about every cup (generally my morning coffee) I've ever encountered, PLUS bottles of soda. If I've a can of soda or a very small coffee, the front cupholders are perfectly suited. If I have a drink in the center console and my passenger has a drink well... as the co-pilot is not otherwise engaged, they can hold their own freaking drink.

What are you people drinking from??? 20 gallon buckets!???

When I got my MINI I had them pull the cupholder & throw it in the boot. That lasted a day or two. Then my new cupholder started to complain. See, Mrs Crashton became my cupholder. After two days she had enough. The MINI one is back in place.

I replaced mine immediately with the pre-2005 style MiniFini cup holder - it is much more secure. My coffee mug doesn't flop around anymore and it is level unlike the new one that has a slight tilt to it. I mounted it down low - the only drawback is that it is close when shifting into fifth.

mine was taken off before i even got in it. it makes for such cleaner look of the center piece.. you have this great big speedometer (most of us), a beautiful arrangement of guages, and switches, lights, and *****.. then this horrid cup holder.. you wont regret getting rid of it, you still hve 3 more. if you want 5, i still have mine.. i heard they go for $25.

outside diameter as it is the height of the container.

I'm with you...I find that they each fit a specific need....I like the little round ones in front of the shifter for phone, change, etc....

I pulled the metal frame off mine and drilled into the cup holder base to use as an IPOD mount - didn't have to drill into the down tube that way.

I tried to remove my cupholder from the down tube. Removed the two screws and it pulled off on the bottom, but then did not want to come the rest of the way off. I was afraid I was going to crack, or break the downtube. I called the dealer and asked if they would remove it. They said they would not remove it because if they broke something they would be responsible. He thought there may be some double stick tape on the inside that is holding it to the downtube. I want that damm thing off. I can't believe people actually paid for that when it was a option. Does anyone have a way to remove it without causing damage to the downtube?

Use mine for my Satelite radio

Already had XM in my wife and daughters car so I did not want to go the Sirius route.

Here's the best cup holder for a MINI, period.

The photo was originally to show the shift ****, but it will do service here to show the cup holder.
cheers,
phil

There is some double stick tape there, mine just required a good steady tug, its always harder the first time.
