Mini Clock gain time?

My clock gains time so it's almost always fast. Anyone else have this problem?

Its a big problem... There is a service bulletin out that your dealership should be familiar with....

It is discussed in TSB: SI M 62 01 05

According to the TSB calibration of the crystal frequency is inaccurate. Requires replacement of the center instrument cluster. (note) it seems not to affect clocks on the column in cars with Chrono or NAV.

I started this very thread back when I picked up my car in June... I gain probably 15 to 20 seconds per DAY... I'm used to it but I'm pretty **** about TIME... my bedroom alarm clock/radio is an Atomic clock; I like being precise; heck, it's partly why I bought the MINI!
Service Bulletin. Hmmm.
So would this be covered under WARRANTY work? I would think so. Is it worth the "time' at the dealer? Hmmmm.

It isn't your clock...you are actually traveling into the future.

Of course! My wife's '05 has the standard gauges and the clock gains 7-10 minutes every 2-3 weeks. It drives me nuts when I drive the car. So far, my '06 with the chrono package seems to keep correct time. My question is, how much of the dash has to be torn apart (creating rattles where none currently exist) to replace the speedo unit? Or does this speedo come out without opening up the dash?

It's because you spend so much time driving forwards, the clock speeds up... If you drive somewhere in reverse, you can actaully slow the clock back down or rewind time, kind of like Superman.

Sorry, I got too much sleep last night... Yeah, listen to Gabe, he got the solution posted over at Motoringfile last week. Gotta love the "Ask the SA"!

Replaced clock yesterday...so far very precise to the second. Unfortunately, installers "sliced" (maybe using a sharp instument to pry) the leather of my dash...right close to where the screws are (you can see where the screws are right above where the hazard and dash light buttons are). I went back to have this put on my record just in case the tear becomes bigger due to upcoming temperature increase. SA took it further and volunteered to change the entire dash top for me next week. I hope they do a more careful job this time .

I just called and made an appointment for the first service. I mentioned about the clock being too fast and the service advisor made a note of it.

I understand that the center speedo will be swapped out. So, how much of the dash needs to taken apart? I'm worried that once the dash is taken apart, squeeks may pop up after it's put back together. :impatient

I have an 06 MCS with the same problem and had the whole speedo unit replaced. Nary a squeak or a rattle till now and it's almost 3 months from the replacement.

I had to get it done, since it was also interfering with the CANBUS...
