Just curious if anyone has had any luck at all selling a stock exhaust system after an aftermarket one has been installed. Kinda takes the sting out of the investment......

 

Stock exhausts usually go for nothing. People might pay for you to ship it and thats it.

 

Might ease the sting at first, but...

Have you thought about keeping it to re-install. You might find you can't get anything back for the mod whe you sell the car.
Re-install the stock then sell the performance exhaust separately.

I agree with Khodabear, that's what I did with my last MCS. The hard part was finding a place to keep the stock exhaust without tripping over it.

After I installed a Borla system on my HEMI D the stock system went up into the Attic.

 

Anyone care to give me a good reason not to buy an Alta? I can get one shipped to me for less than $600........

 

Gave ours away just about brand new - even a year ago they had little value for sale (unless you luck out and find someone that really needs one, even then I don't think they go for much). Thought about keeping it around but didn't need all that space lost to that ugly thing - made that mistake with the E46 and I still have stock parts sucking up room. Perhaps if I only had the car for a short time it might be worth it, but once the exhaust is on for many miles it loses value anyhow and the effort/cost to change back for sale seems pointless - I figure if I want to sell the JCW at any point I can swap with someone plus cash for an OEM one.

Sorry can't help you personally on the Alta, I think you can find some sound clips and opinions 'round here if you search if you want some more info.

 

I've seen them sell rarely, usually for experimentation purposes and not for much. I just sold my stock header for $40 for this reason.

 

maybe you can dump it off on ebay for a couple of bucks?

 

Seems like some people like to take their MINI's off road. I would imagine that there are a few people who destroy theirs on rocks that need them. See of you can find an off road MINI forum.
