Minis in Roundel

If you still haven't joined the BMW Club, you are missing out! This month has a nice article about a new Mini lover/buyer.

Starting next month, my Mini column will start and run each month and rumor has it, I think there will be more coverage too.

See you on the track!

Is this the feb. issue you're referring to? I haven't gotten that one yet. Can't wait!

The thing that pissed me off about Roundel is when they published an article basically saying "the new mini isnt a BMW", and beside that, put a picture of a Cooper S, with tiny stickers on the back saying "When I grow up, I wanna be a 5 series." Yeah, well when the M3 grows up, maybe it will handle as good as a Mini Cooper.

Other than that, Roundel is a great magazine for the "true" BMW owner.

If that pissed you off, how did you do with all of the letters in the last few years about "wanna-be" BMW owners who bought MINIs?

It pissed me off, then I laughed, then I took action: sign up for driver's schools and force them to respect your ride and your skills.

I should just say it erked me a bit. Roundel is a great magazine, but there is very little MINI influence, besides parts...Still good though.

You can contact BMW CCA National 864.250.0022 and see if they can get you a copy of the Feb Roundel since you are a new member.

As for the comments about whether or not it's BMW, you can't take it personally. You will always have people that are immature and want to justify their status.

It's a great club but like every organization, it has its a-holes. That's just life. Join the Club, all in all, it's a great group of people.

Check out my column starting in the March issue... I think you'll like it.

I've been a member of the BMWCCA for over 15 years. I've owned a couple 2002tii's, a 3.0CS, 735i and M3. I've been disappointed with the MINI treatment in the Roundel. I understand it's "not a BMW". Yet there's a lot of insecure BMW guy's who's manhood seems to be linked to their roundels.

I sold the E36 M3 which I bought new to buy my MCS. 3 years later and still no regrets. My only suggestion is go easy on the Roundel folks. It really is a great magazine, and their getting more receptive to the MINI people. Let's show them that we enjoy cars ... and driving - regardless of the badge. The core group understands that. They'll come around. Go to a driving school and you'll meet the best of them.

Since I have a new monthly Mini column in Roundel (starting in March), I will need suggestions and input on content. We can drive change, but as you know it is easier to drive change from within.
