The Italian Job 1969

I just watched the 1969 version (original) from 1969 wwith Michael Caine&Noel Coward. It's available through Netflix. The 1969 Minis are spectacular! You will love the little buggers.

Great flick! Note my sig.

The deleted scene on the ice rink is worth the DVD rental alone.

I was so mad. I got the '69 version from Netflix a couple days ago, came home tonight after a long week of work, go to put in the DVD to watch and the DVD is split almost in half.

I never saw the original until I saw the remake. Now I own both on DVD. The original is great! Especially the cheesy humor at the end.

FYI - the original is the classic and as far as the MINI goes...the original is the classic (but I have as much fun in my MINI). The original TIJ is an amazing movie...I still can't believe that they killed the jag...oh my...and the aston...good lord, now I'm depressed.

Benny Hill rocks.

mini 1969

Obviously, the Minis had no stunt doubles in 1969 or 2003(?) but in all those years the performance, stunts etc. is no better now than 30+ yrs ago. In 1969 I was driving a 1st generation Camaro and had never seen a Mini.

The original Italian Job is fantastic on several levels. The scenery and all the magnificent autos are simply amazing. I don't think they could make such a film today. It's a very good film. I remember the Minis from the 60s...always have loved them!

I just love how ridiculous the fashion guy looks when they have that conversation about clothes. "These were all the rage when I went in" "What'd you do, life?"

And the Muira opening scene is as close to Nirvana as I can possibly imagine.

I saw the original long ago and to this day it is still great to watch. The remake is good but original is still my favorite. I agree with MINIclo. I don't believe they could make such a film today.

I have both movies. Very interesting watch the extra features on the original DVD. The italian location people wanted them to use Fiats instead of minis for the rights to drive down the city sidewalks. Luckily that did not happen. You can get the original from amazon also.

I got the original at Best Buy for $6. My mom's cousin played Michael Caine's girlfriend.

I got the original soon after the new Italian Job came out. What a great 60's movie. It was pretty funny how Fiat gave them everything (including their test track) and Mini wouldn't even give them 3 Mini's.

When the re-make was released on DVD they were selling both versions as a combo box set. I'd had the original on VHS for awhile, but the cleaned up DVD version is great

I looked around for this version for about 3 months before the new Italian Job came out, and there wasn't a single copy in Blockbuster or Hollywood Video or any other video rental store within 40 miles of my house. And I live in a pretty dense area to say the least. Now the new one's been out and they've got them everywhere. Oh well, it was worth the wait!

i liked that movie, but i almost cried at the senseless destruction of beautiful cars like the miura, db5 volante, and jaguar e-types that all bite the dust. and so many Minis... . but an entertaining movie nonetheless. i love the little Fiat 500s all over the place, lol.

. . . can you imagine Hollywood making a cliffhanger ending like that these days and be able to RESIST making the sequel? I think NOT!

This JUST happened to me last Monday with Netflix. Their mailers are pretty flimsy, to say the least. I have gotten other unplayable discs from them too. Sux.

BTW the DVD that was cracked was Squirm. No Minis, but WORMS!
