Looks like I am heading up to Detroit Firday night to go to the auto show Saturday. Has anybody been yet? Any feed back? Anybody planning to go this weekend, maybe want to meet up for a frosty beverage? I think the Old Man and I are going to get together at some point.

 

We are driving up to Detroit Saturday morning, nice 21/2 hour drive from Clevland. Maybe we'll see you at the MINI booth...gotta look at the MINI Traveller and check out the Dodge Challenger concept car too!

I was there last Saturday. MINI has a smaller booth, but they make it interesting and market it well. They passed out CDs about the Traveller, had a DJ spinning tunes, a go-cart MINI ride for the kids, and the chance to make a MINI postcard. It was good. I was suprised by how much I liked Space Blue in person. No two pictures of it seem to look the same, but the one they had on display looked nice.

 

I went last Sunday. I was a bit bummed that they wouldn't open the door of the Traveller. It was in a pretty tiny area with a security guard standing there. When some folks asked if he could open the door he said he wasn't allowed to b/c the enclosure was so small

Royal Oak for cocktails (or beer) Saturday evening.

 

I went last Sunday. It was my first year. I went to the Tokyo Auto Show a few years ago so I felt no need to go to NAIAS. Sadly, I was kind of dissapointed. I was impressed by the Audi Roadjet concept, the rs6 (which wasnt unlocked either!) and the Aston Martin sedan. The MINI traveller was disgusting. Sat in a Nissan Xterra because I want one. Check out the outfits that the Volvo models have to wear. ahahhaahah! Hmm... nothing else too memorable.

All in all it was a good time but soooo busy. So so so busy. Cobo Roof was full so we parked at Joe Louis and walked. Thats what I get for going opening weekend.

I am going to Detroit tomorrow!!! I should be at the show around 11am and stay for a few hours. I look foward to seeing some of you Mini owners, but I wont be at the Mini booth for long because there are so many other nicer cars! Should I plan to see any of you there tomorrow? I hope we can take photos and I will put them in an online album and share them with everyone.

Just got back from the show. Actually it was pretty good. We were there when the doors opened and the crowd was light. Lots of good displays.

The MINI booth was excellent, except for the Traveller. Really wanted to like it, but, yuck!

RigidJunkie and I had a photo op after the show.
