I think superbike racing is one of the most exciting forms of racing. I don't understand why it isn't more popular. It's almost never on TV.

I ordered a DVD of Joey Dunlop, the amazing bike racer of Isle of Mann TT fame. Unfortunately he died in a 125cc race a few months after his last TT victory.

Depends on where you live. We see every race live in Germany. Speedvision in the US usually shows races same day. Unfortunately, World Superbike is on a downslide. MotoGP has overtaken it in popularity in recent years. I do miss the days when Foggy was racing and Ducati ruled. Awesome!

agreed, MotoGP is the deal, especially since last couple of years. I have never been a fan of Ben Bostrom, he is more into mountain climbing showing off his abs, and the real holdback, he is a pretty tall guy. He did shine for a while with Ducati, but Troy Bayliss and Ruben Xaus were better than him, and i hate Ruben Xaus btw.

It is good to have Ducati guys over here.

I've been following Ben and his brother Eric race US and World Superbike for years. They seem like truly nice guys. Eric owns the Colorado race. I believe Ben will race again in World SBK and I assume Eric will be back in US Superbike. Was the MCSC photo from some goofy dating show they did? Women competed to get a date with Ben and/or Eric and other racer types.

I opted for something a bit more sensible (I'm getting old)... My mini shares my side of the garage with my BMW R1100RS and the wifes Buell Blast. (all 3 in the same bay) I sold my Kaw ZR-7 when I got the BMW.

At 50 something, I’m not quite ready for the saddlebags and heated grips.

So…..in less then 2-months time the garage will be home to one of these as well.

If I lived in SoCal, I'd probably not want the heated grips either. Unfortunately, The heated grips are like the heated seats in my Mini.... You just can't live without them in NEOhio..

The saddlebags just get me the ability to get away for a few days without a duffle bag on the seat.

As for the Triumph... I'd be looking at a Tiger if I were shopping. I just like the dual sport aspect of it. A riding buddy has a Trophy, pretty nice...

Triumph has always been one step behind in the highly contested 600 Sportbike class, never able to quite match the big four Japanese brands.

The all-new Daytona 675 triple is definitely going to change all that. The philosophy Triumph has taken is to forget the competition and build a bike for real world riding enjoyment. Every magazine editor who has ridden the new Daytona has raved about the broad torque band and compact size. As the Japanese bikes continue to move the power up the rev band (17,000 rpm) to suit racing and track bike performance, Triumph has focused on usable power down where it is needed for every day riding.

I for one think that they are definitely on the right track.

i really like the look of the new daytona. but i like agressive looking bikes with raw power to match. kawasaki had the most powerfull bikes out last year, so i went with the zx6r. which i took to the track twice last year. awesome bike i think. its all rider though so the bike doesnt matter all that much. is kawasaki still at the top? or have things changed since last year. who hear goes to the track with their bikes? ive gone to pocanos

The new Yamaha is the latest “must have” of the current 600 Sportbikes. What never ceases to amaze me is that so many people are only looking at the numbers (most horse power & lightest weight) yet 95% of them will never use anywhere near these bikes full potential. As you say “it’s all in the rider”. Instead of buying all the after market stuff, spend money on track time and become a better rider that may actually use that horsepower and grip.

I currently ride the 05 Zx-6R and really like this bike. The turn-in is phenomenal and the extra 36cc gives it that little extra torque in the canyons. My wife will inherit the Kawasaki when the Triumph arrives in March.

Do you get Speed Channel? They show AMA Superbike races, Moto GP, and World Superbike. Not always live, but it's out there.

Moto GP makes F1 look like a high speed parade.

I think Bostrom never really got off the ground in WSB and there was just too many other good riders around at that time..... he always got hosed by edwards and baylis... although I think I recall him doing quite well when they travelled to Laguna Seca

Ben had a great looking bike in WSB. I really wanted the 998 replica but it was sold out. Here was one of my bikes:

Not me, I am looking at the first stock "bumblebee" paint scheme since my 1984 RZ 350. I grew up on Roberts/Lawson at Daytona in their OW's. It is hard to resist now that the new paint is out there. I think it would have to be the R1... NO, NO, NO, my wife WILL KILL ME, she still wonders why the yellow Buell is still not sold, and now, I should be also picking up my 1978 RD400, all running right and rebuilt in the next few weeks. Am I INSANE? No more than most moto heads here, I would imagine...
