Selling a 2003 Cooper S

I have a 2003 PS and black Cooper S with 25,000 Miles. The car is mint except for the worn front tires. I'm wondering what it would be worth and is the market still strong for a used MINI ? It had a dent in the door that was fixed by the dealer last year caused by a drunk Nun. It's a long story but anyhow will the dent that was fixed perfectly by the dealer take away some of the cars value? I had filed a police report and was wondering if a $1000.00 insurance repair show up in a carfax?

Check autotrader.com and vehix.com, etc, and see what similar cars are selling for in your area. The dent shouldnt decrease the value if it is undetectable, but I dont know about the carfax question.

According to Kelly Blue Book, my 03 MC dropped in value by just over $1,000 due to repaired damage of $2,000. This is even if the repair is undetectable. Of course, if the buyer doesn't know, this doesn't apply.

This is why you should always try to get, "loss of value" payment from the insurance company.

IMO the market is still strong, but softening (after years of extraordinary strength.) You're near the end of the warranty, so that affects it some. As Minitor said, check local pricing (autotrader), or on ebay for national pricing.

Supposedly any accident over $500 should show up on a carfax - this one would be an interesting test to see if it's true. IMO it does affect the value slightly. Did they put on a new door, or use Bondo? Any repaint is at risk of color variation as the old and new paints are likely to decay at different rates.

Sorry to get you off topic but I'm sure we'd all like to read the story. Cracks me up just saying it, "drunk nun."

The door was not replaced but the dealer did pound out the dent and then used bondo. They did a nice job with the paint. The questions would be......would you as a buyer....buy a car with minor body damage?

Ah...the nun hit my car while it was parked last summer and then parked in front of me. The cop called the phone # to the registered owner of the suspect car and no one answered or opened the door. The next morning the owner of the suspect car came forward and left a note on my car. It turned out that the car was owned by a Convent and sister )(*&^ came forward. I think she was a bit drunk to hit a parked car. Very suspect!!! I hope that sums up the story.

Would you buy the car if you had a carfax showing minor repaired damage? The car is almost perfect!

I just want to get an idea of what I should sell it for and how long it will take. It's my baby but I'm moving to the UK in the fall and want to save some money by getting an old Saab for a few months that I don't need to worry about the next drunk nun hitting it again. Don't worry.....I plan on getting another MINI in a year or two!! It's the best car I have ever owned.....well maybe second......I still dream of my old BMW 2002 tii.

If you want, e-mail me your VIN# and a fax #. I'll fax the carfax to you.
