That's a good one!

Let's turn the cute comment into a pickup line..

"Your car is cute!"
"Yea, cute things come in pairs!"

Or, you can just disagree... Politely of course..

"Your car is cute!"
"No it ain't you tard."

How about expanding on the definition of cute.

"Your car is cute!"
"If by cute you mean the shortened word of acute, meaning clever, and by that if you mean I was clever to purchase a fun and economical car unlike every other person who thinks SUV is the wave of the future. Then yes, my car is cute..

I have the perfect response.. after they say it's cute, you just look at them and start laughing.
It may sound strange but check this out...It's 7:00am on New Years day, you know the morning after New Years Eve.... I am at the store buying pedilite, crackers, childrens flu Tylenol and the checkout person asks in a very cheerful way how I am doing this morning. I look at him directly in the eye and start laughing. Both he and the gal bagging looked at me like I had lost my mind but having no sleep while your child is up all night with stomache flu does something to you. I'm not a jerk but it just made me laugh. Anyway, I'm pretty sure they wont ask a person buying that stuff that question again..maybe the same will happen with the "cute question"..or maybe they'll think you're nuts..either way, they wont bother you

I'd have to agree w/ PPE here. Coming from classic Minis, there was no way you could keep a Mini from being cute, no matter what you did to it. I feel the same w/ MINIs. I've never seen one what wasn't cute...no matter how dangerous it looked. It is meant as a compliment, after all.

yah, being offended by the word "cute" is a bit macho its a positive comment and makes sense for our cars

from dictionary.com
adj 1: attractive especially by means of smallness or prettiness or quaintness

Yeah, the MINI is cute the same way that a badger is. looks are one thing, they can be decieving...but the personality of a fierce creature that will claw your freakin eyes out if you dont watch yourself is another story

Exactly!! I think the thing that bothers us is that many people....well-meaning, but un-educated in MINI ways (hey, I made a joke!!!)...think MINIs are just cute. MINIs are...and always have been...about a whole lot more than just being cute and/or stylish.

that one probably pertains to this better than a mini...unless of course you transport tigers in your mini

Very true....but i think instead of coming up with comebacks it might be better to learn that what THEY think is pretty irrelevant. Anyone who is a car enthusiast is aware that the mini can handle....and its those people whose opinion would matter (atleast more than the opinion of someone who doesnt know cars)

You know what I'm talking about if you have seen the commerical with like the big bulls and people riding them and they call 'em "ESUVEE" and they talk about people losing it cause the don't know how to handle 'em. I consider them to be talking about SUVs!

EDIT:
I found there webpage! They have the ad on there too!

Whenever people tell me my car is cute the only thing I've been able to have come out of my mouth is "You aughta see her from behind" or "She's not cute, she's adorable! Get it strait."
And whenever someone touches Tuls' MINI he says "How'd you like it if I fondled your wife?"
