Hey,
People always say that to me to but one night when I was watching the news, I saw them doing crash tests and the cooper got the highest rating possible. With the amount of airbags and everything I wouldnt be to worried about it.

Hey,
MINI scored 4-stars across the board in the Gov. Safety tests .... go to MINIUSA.com for their 'safety story' and they'll give you the full details ...

Two links. Print out the pics and ask your friends would they rather be in an F-150 Truck or your MINI ?? Check out the distortion in the occupant area. Startling isn't it?
MINI in crash
F-150 truck in same test

Now that will scare the ***** out of your freind who drives the Ford Truck.

I also remember the pic of the poor MINI shiny side down, and it looked like you could just get a group of guys together, roll her over and motor on! No smush, no collapse, I don't even think the windows were broken. I'll try to find the pic

Check this out....for as bad as this is, I don't think it looks that bad. I'd rather be in a MINI in this situation that almost any other car...

Hmmm... easy solution! Pile them in it, mash down the gas pedal, and have them all fly at a brick wall at 60 mph. If they live, it'll prove that its safe!

I can't believe they disbelieve those pictures I sent you. What did the Ford truck guy say when he saw the crunched F-150?

Hi,

I was just in a head on collision with a midsize sedan on wednesday 2/12/2003. I was going about 40mph and was not sure how fast she was going but she hit a patch of ice and swerved into my lane. I tried avoiding her but I couldn't. The driver and passenger side deployed and I came out with a bruise ribs and a fat lip. I was taken to the Jersey Shore Hospital and I was check all over. They couldn't believed that I came out with minor injuries despite the size of the car. Btw the interior of the car was intact but the car is beyond repairable.

Funny, thing was in the local paper "Asbury Park Press" the headline said " Car hits SUV " and they mistaken my Cooper S to an SUV. So is the car safe, I'm living proof telling you my story.

Arnold

tell your friends in the SUVS and trucks THEIR vehicles are LESS safe as they tend to rollover in an accident and due to the weight of the truck smash the occupants like bugs. as you can see the mini doesn't.

also trucks and SUVs have very bad side impact ratings, where as the MINI has a 4 star rating. and the minis chassis is something like 5 times stiffer than a truck's.

check this page for info.

Here's some interesting info for you:
http://www.bridger.us/2002/12/16/Cra...operVsFordF150

The MINI is the safest small car made. So while you can't change the laws of physics you can use them to your advantage. The MINI does this very well. It's called active safety - being able to get out of an accident before you get in one.

The MINI is a seriously safe automobile. Your friends are just jealous that you're driving a rolling work of art. In any event, the best way to survive an accident is to have the capability to AVOID it. While you're scooting out of the way, they'll be hitting guardrails and flipping over thanks to their higher center of gravity. Actually, I starting to become a supporter of even bigger trucks. Since I can't see around them, I hoping I can see under them.

Really, don't worry about it - Motor On!
