Cooling the drinks in the summer assumes the drink isn't already colder than the A/C vent's output. If it is, then the A/C vent will warm the drink rather than cool it until they reach thermal equilibrium.

In the winter, you'd be drinking hot chocolate, coffee, tea, or something else warm, so heating it with the heat wouldn't be a bad thing. Same rule applies, though--if the drink is warmer than the heater output, the heater would cool the drink until they reach thermal equilibrium....

A can of paint + A role of tape + little bit of talent

So today, I got to spend a quality time with my mini!

Just like you guys, I love DIY mods!

So I was thinking what should I do to my baby today and decided to do
something that NO ONE has ever done! (at least none by cheap dorky people! )

I don't know if anyone has tried this but I thought it was cool!
Totally impromptu...

So, here is my creation,

Enjoy~

$6 plasti dip paint x2 + $3 3M painter's tape + $0 little bit of talent
= $15 black out and a custom hood stripe.

Coolest looking stripe... cuz I designed it. =)
no measurements done so I don't know how thick the stripes are...
thin one is about 1 inch that I know!

Black out Chrome stuff.

Like it?

all for $15

I Like your stripes miniwangja!

I tried to do PD stripes, but when I pull the tape off, the PD comes with it. What will stay on, doesnt look Crisp & clean like yours.

Any suggestions?

Here is what I did.

Because of the nature of the Plasti Dip, which likes to bond with adjacent objects, I gave only the inner part of thick strip 1 coat first, not touching the edges.

next coat was FAST Quadrupple coat, in less than 2 min.
then waited 1 min-ish just for the thick paint to settle, and pulled all tapes and waited the whole thing to dry.

and it worked!

=) that's how I did it.

Didn't see this here and not "dorky" at all, but very worthwhile, practical, functional and no $$$'s...

Can't read the dipstick on your new Mini? No more worries mate.

Grind off the lower bulb and file each side flat just a bit, then drill matching holes every 1/4" starting from the hole that is already there all the way to the metal core so each hole has a shiny silver metal spot in it.

After one dip back into and out of the tube.

It is easy to read the oil level on the filed smooth flat dull surface on each side of the dipstick end. The additional holes that fill with oil turn darker making it even easier with those in place.

The filed to a point end doesn’t seem to drag additional oil up into the tube like the lower blub did, thus I am getting a good reading on the first dip after pulling and cleaning off the end.

Life is simple again!

another one with plasti dip

haha thanks for the compliments on my front hood stripe!

And, guess what?

So last time, I bought 2 cans of paint and 1 roll of tape...

I had plenty left over paint and left over tape from last project...

and if you don't use it, then it goes to waste...

that's not good!

so here we go! another stripe for the rear!

I took midway shots so it may be an assistance for anyone trying this!

So, i did the half first.
First coat not touching the edge
Next, fast quadruple coat -> wait a minute for thick paint to settle, then peel.

The first coat looks like this,

and finished product

This one costed $0 !!! because i used leftover.
but if you were to do it, it would cost $6 for paint, $3 for tape!

Try this! So Fun!!!

Well i just dowload the image from internet and give it to a friend that make decals he made it with the proper size to fit i just put it(with the most precision i could) then the red and white circle a had to paint that with plastic paint that was the more dificult part , i did that last saturday also put a roof graphic, eyes decals on the wheel covers, and union jack decals on the door panels in the same day,its semes to be holding up quiet good i hope it last, by the way the mats came with the car i guess i was lucky on that

sounds good man.

*sigh* so i just finished my cheap mod for the day the biggest cost being sweat and water. i raised my engine by a full inch to help relieve some of the stress i was putting on my axles from being too low.
i know people have been talking about doing this for awhile but i dont know of anyone actually doing it yet.
lot of work. hopfully it will be worth it

im not really sure actually i havent measured from the fender yet. im running 16's with a 45 tyre and im rubbing the inside of my hood for what its worth. but the axle is just vibrating way too much and im worried about stepping on it.

yeah i closed the hood and everything cleared fine. my gp intercooler wont be getting much air through it anymore tho

So it's good for R50's but will save axles while killing power on the R53's... Good to know. Maby thats why nobody does it.

Hey dudstepsteve, dont you think that camber plates will correct that vibration, because im understanding that your axles are to compress betwin the wheel and the gearbox, with the camber plates you can separate them by throwing the wheel out a little bit, i think

? thanks...****

i dont think it will kill much power anyways everyone knows those top mounts suck and barley any air gets to it in the first place.

camber plates might help a little bit but only for the two outer cv joints. the inner joints wouldnt change at all and thats where iv generally seen them break. but the extra camber wont bring the wheel out it would actually bring it in a little bit which could help some

So your inner joints are the ones that being push in?, i think if you give a little bit of positive camber then the tripod that holds the bearings on your joints will be pull outwards and will run more freely, i think
